Happy Gilmore 2 includes a brief, easy-to-miss screen appearance that serves as a tribute to Cameron Boyce, Adam Sandler’s late Grown Ups co-star. The moment takes place at a golf-course check-in desk, where employees watch a television showing what appears to be Boyce’s Disney Channel series Jessie.
Where Cameron Boyce appears in Happy Gilmore 2
During a golf-course check-in scene, Happy approaches the desk while employees watch a television. TV Insider reports that the screen appears to show Jessie, the Disney Channel series in which Boyce appeared. The reference is on the television in the background; it is not a new scene in which Boyce appears as a character. TV Insider’s description of the moment characterizes it as brief and easy to miss.
Why the scene is considered a tribute
Boyce and Sandler worked together in Grown Ups. E! News reports that Sandler discussed including Boyce in the sequel, describing the moment as a tribute to his late co-star. E! News’ report points to a Hollywood Reporter interview published July 29, 2025, but does not provide enough of Sandler’s answer to establish his full personal rationale. There is therefore no basis here for attributing a more specific explanation or quoting him directly.
How it fits the sequel’s other homages
Netflix’s Tudum coverage describes Happy Gilmore 2 as paying homage to people who helped build the first film’s legacy. Its cast guide also frames the sequel as an ode to the original and notes that deceased performers from that film are honored in creative ways. That broader context helps explain the sequel’s interest in remembrance, but it does not establish why the filmmakers chose this particular Jessie image for Boyce’s tribute. Netflix Tudum’s Easter-egg guide and its cast and cameo guide discuss those wider connections.
