For Halloween-season free Kindle books and low-cost spooky reads, look for Indie Author Collective’s (IAC) Get Spooked event, part of its Stuff Your eReader program. “Stuff Your Kindle Day” is the familiar shorthand, but the official event name is Get Spooked—and listings may be free or $0.99 rather than all free or $1.
What is the Halloween Stuff Your Kindle Day event?
IAC runs monthly indie-author book promotions under the name Stuff Your eReader. Its Halloween-season event is called Get Spooked. The 2026 author application names horror, thriller, mystery, and paranormal as the event’s themes; IAC notes that not every featured book has to be scary.

The phrase “Stuff Your Kindle Day” is commonly used for this kind of ebook promotion, but it does not mean every book is on Amazon or that every listing costs nothing. IAC’s program also points to Kobo options.
Are the books free or $1?
Free and $0.99 are possible promotion formats listed on the 2026 author application for Amazon and Kobo. They are options for submitted books, not guaranteed prices for every title. The application also lists books available through Kindle Unlimited and Kobo Plus, which are subscription services rather than necessarily free-to-claim purchases.

Check each book’s live retailer listing before downloading or buying. Price and availability can differ by title, retailer, territory, and time, so confirm both the price and the platform shown for the specific book.
How to browse Get Spooked
- Open IAC’s Get Spooked event page.
- Use the event page’s genre and promotion filters to narrow the listings to the kind of book and deal you want.
- Open a title’s retailer listing and verify its current price, platform, and availability in your territory before claiming it.
IAC recommends browsing the event on a desktop or laptop. Its 2025 reader guide describes entering an event from the event page, an email link, or the event listing, then selecting the event’s “Join Now” control; the exact 2026 page layout may differ.

Do you need a Kindle?
No. The event is for ebook discovery, and IAC links to both Kindle and Kobo shopping and subscription options. A Kindle e-reader is one way to read a compatible Kindle ebook, but the organizer’s materials do not make owning a Kindle a requirement. Check the individual listing for its retailer and reading option before choosing a title.

IAC’s official materials identify an October 2026 event and its theme, but the accessible text of the reviewed event materials does not establish exact start and end dates. Check the live Get Spooked page for current timing rather than relying on an unverified date elsewhere.
