What Paul Greene and Kate Austin announced
Greene, known for playing Dr. Carson Shepherd on Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart, told People in July 2021 that he and Austin were expecting a boy. Greene described Austin as his fiancée. Entertainment Tonight had reported their engagement in 2019, after Greene proposed in Italy.
In the July interview, Greene spoke about fatherhood: “I love being a dad,” he said. “It teaches me to be kind and patient, and is a total learning experience which keeps me young. I was born to be a dad.” The interview identified Greene as a 47-year-old actor and father of Oliver.
When was the baby due, and when was he born?
In an August 2021 Entertainment Tonight interview, Greene confirmed the baby’s sex and expected date: “Yes, we are having a boy. He’s due Thanksgiving Day, 2021.” That was the anticipated date, not the reported birth date.

A December 2021 People report said their son Austin was born on December 12. Greene announced, “Our little guy Austin is born!” and added, “He is a super healthy little boy, and we are thrilled.”
