Calling the project “Valve-approved” or saying it had Valve’s “blessing” reflects reporting about alleged consent, not Valve authorship or an official release announcement. Is it actually coming to Steam soon?
“Coming soon” belongs to the 2021 coverage, not a confirmed current timetable. The material reviewed does not establish whether the collection has launched, remains in development, or has a release window. A SteamDB listing featured in contemporary reporting is not the same as an official Steam release announcement; PC Gamer explicitly noted that the project was not Valve-related.
Valve’s official Half-Life 2 announcements page is a separate source for updates to Valve’s game, including an official update in July 2025. That update does not confirm the status of Victor’s collection.

Is this the same project as Half-Life 2 RTX?
No. Half-Life 2 RTX is a separate project by Orbifold Studios. Steam describes it as a “community-made mod,” says it is free for owners of Half-Life 2, and lists a demo featuring Ravenholm and Nova Prospekt.
