She also thanked fans for their support and asked them to respect the show’s creative privacy as season 3 filming approached its end: “i ask that you please respect our creative privacy as we cross the finish line of s3!!” The original tweet is no longer available through the report’s account of the incident, so these quotations are attributed to iMore.
Why did she object to the leak?
Steinfeld’s stated objection was that the image exposed a private moment from an in-progress production: the cast and crew were on a private soundstage filming an emotional scene. She framed the circulation as an invasion of the production’s privacy and asked viewers to let the creative work remain unseen until the show was ready to share it.

That is her expressed view of the incident, not a legal finding. iMore’s report does not establish who captured or distributed the image, or their intent.
When did the tweet appear, and what happened to it?
iMore dates Steinfeld’s tweet to June 1, 2021, and its report to June 2. The report says the tweet and the fan account were later deleted. The incident is therefore a historical account; the report’s references to filming nearing completion describe the circumstances in June 2021, not the show’s current production status.
