Gyre Stream Bitrate and Resolution Settings for 1080p YouTube Playback

Gyre lists 1080p H.264 at 30 FPS and 3072–6144 kbps for prerecorded files. YouTube’s separate 1080p H.264 live ingest recommendations are 14 Mbps at 30 FPS and 17 Mbps at 60 FPS.

For a prerecorded video uploaded to Gyre, its preparation guide lists 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, 30 FPS, a video bitrate of 3072–6144 kbps, and 128 kbps audio. Those are Gyre’s source-file preparation values—not YouTube’s live encoder bitrate recommendations. For YouTube H.264 live ingest, the current recommendation is 14 Mbps at 1080p30 or 17 Mbps at 1080p60.

Gyre’s recommended 1080p file settings

Gyre’s Knowledge Base guide, updated about a year before it was accessed (the exact publication date is not shown), covers prerecorded files uploaded to Gyre storage. For Full HD, it lists these preparation values:

File setting Gyre guide value
Resolution 1920×1080
Video codec H.264
Video bitrate 3072–6144 kbps
Audio bitrate 128 kbps
Frame rate 30 FPS
Alternative HD resolution 1280×720

Use 30 FPS as the guide’s Full HD target; it does not establish a Gyre 1080p60 file target. The page contains a wording error after “FPS 30,” calling a rate “44.1 kHz.” Kilohertz is an audio sample-rate unit, not a video frame rate. YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies 44.1 kHz as a stereo audio sample rate.

Gyre names Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro as possible desktop tools for optimizing or converting video. It does not require a particular application.

Why YouTube’s bitrate numbers are different

Gyre’s figures describe the prerecorded source file uploaded to its service. YouTube’s figures describe the live encoder stream being sent to YouTube. They apply at different stages, so do not substitute one set for the other or treat them as a single universal bitrate.

YouTube H.264 live ingest Minimum Recommended
1080p at 30 FPS 5 Mbps 14 Mbps
1080p at 60 FPS 6 Mbps 17 Mbps

YouTube’s current guidance makes the recommendation dependent on codec, resolution, and frame rate. Its 1080p figures above are for H.264; its separate AV1/H.265 table gives different rates, so those values should not be applied to an H.264 stream. YouTube recommends CBR, RTMP or RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval; the interval should not exceed four seconds. The encoder guidance also lists 128 kbps stereo audio at a 44.1 kHz stereo sample rate.

YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers. The ingest bitrate is therefore not a promise that every viewer will receive playback at that same bitrate.

Prepare and upload a prerecorded video to Gyre

  1. Set the file export. For the Full HD target in Gyre’s guide, export 1920×1080 H.264 at 30 FPS, with video bitrate between 3072 and 6144 kbps and audio at 128 kbps. If your source is 720p, Gyre also lists 1280×720 as an HD option.
  2. Keep the file available locally, then upload it. Gyre’s guide says files must be uploaded to Gyre storage to create a stream, including content previously published on your YouTube channel or sourced from a playlist.
  3. Check the file before launch. Gyre says its workflow checks file parameters before launch and provides an optimization path for files that do not meet requirements. The exact controls can depend on the current interface, so verify them in Gyre rather than assuming a particular click path.
  4. Test the YouTube ingest separately when applicable. If you are configuring a live encoder stream to YouTube, use the YouTube H.264 ingest table for your frame rate and resolution—not the Gyre source-file range.

Test stream quality and capacity before launch

YouTube advises testing before going live with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. Run an upload-speed test, then monitor stream health and any messages during the event. This helps distinguish a source-file issue from an ingest or connection problem.

  • For a 1080p30 H.264 encoder stream, compare the available sustained upload capacity with YouTube’s 14 Mbps recommendation.
  • For 1080p60 H.264, compare it with the 17 Mbps recommendation and confirm the source actually uses 60 FPS. Gyre’s cited Full HD preparation guide specifies 30 FPS, not 60.
  • Keep the test representative: include the expected audio and amount of motion rather than testing only a static or silent segment.

Troubleshooting common 1080p problems

The uploaded file does not meet Gyre’s preparation target

Check that the file is 1920×1080, H.264, 30 FPS, and within Gyre’s stated video and audio bitrate ranges. Gyre describes a prelaunch parameter check and optimization path; consult the current Gyre interface for the available remedy.

The YouTube stream reports poor health or drops frames

For a direct H.264 encoder-to-YouTube stream, confirm the encoder is using the bitrate appropriate to 1080p30 or 1080p60, and that upload capacity can sustain it. YouTube recommends testing the upload bitrate and watching stream-health messages; do not assume the source-file bitrate is the encoder’s ingest setting.

The frame-rate or sample-rate labels seem inconsistent

FPS measures video frames per second; kHz measures audio samples per second. Treat Gyre’s “30 FPS” as its video frame-rate value and 44.1 kHz as YouTube’s listed stereo audio sample rate, not as an alternate frame rate.
