Gwyneth Paltrow’s Brentwood home sold for a reported $22 million, but the January 2025 fires did not prompt the sale: reports say the property escaped damage and was already under contract before the blazes began.

How much did Gwyneth Paltrow sell her Los Angeles home for?

The Mandeville Canyon property in Brentwood sold for a reported $22 million. Realtor.com reported that the transaction closed on January 27, 2025. Realtor.com and Architectural Digest both reported the sale price.

How did the sale price compare with the asking prices?

The home entered the market in May 2024 at about $29.9 million. Its asking price was reduced to $24.9 million in October, before the reported $22 million sale, according to Architectural Digest.

Stage Reported price Context
Initial listing About $29.9 million Listed in May 2024; Architectural Digest, January 28, 2025.
Reduced listing $24.9 million Reduced in October 2024; Architectural Digest, January 28, 2025.
Sale $22 million Reported transaction price; Realtor.com says it closed January 27, 2025.

Was the home damaged in the fires?

No damage was reported. Coverage said the Brentwood property was threatened by nearby California fires but remained unscathed. Being in an area under threat is not the same as the home having burned or sustained damage.

Was the sale caused by the fires?

Reports say the home was already under contract before the fires began, so the timing does not support saying the fires caused the sale. The reported closing date was January 27, 2025; that is distinct from when the parties reached contract.

What was the home like?

The property was described as a 1950s home with a range of additional spaces and amenities, including a guesthouse, an apartment above the garage, a stable, gym, wine cellar, office, game room and home theater. Kitchen details reported included double cooktops or ranges and a wood-burning oven. Coverage differs on the home’s room counts and dimensions: Architectural Digest described about 8,000 square feet, six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, while Realtor.com reported eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Those figures should not be treated as a settled count.

Why did Paltrow sell the property?

Reporting attributed the move in part to her children moving out and her plans to divide time among Los Angeles, the Hamptons and Montecito. That is reported context, not a confirmed statement of the transaction’s formal motive.
