Why did the medley pair these songs?
The advance announcement framed the appearance around two parts of Stefani’s catalog: the 20th anniversary of Love. Angel. Music. Baby., which includes “Hollaback Girl,” and a song from her newer album Bouquet. The announcement said she would perform “a medley celebrating the 20th anniversary of her album Love.Angel.Music.Baby, including ‘Hollaback Girl,’ and a song from her newest album Bouquet.” The final set included “Swallow My Tears” from Bouquet, followed by “The Sweet Escape” and “Hollaback Girl.” Read Dick Clark Productions’ announcement.
