Photographs can capture Gwen Stefani and Miranda Lambert at public events, but they cannot prove that Blake Shelton made the “right choice.” What is documented is a short, public timeline: Shelton and Lambert announced their divorce in July 2015 after four years of marriage; Stefani filed for divorce from Gavin Rossdale the following month; Shelton and Stefani’s relationship was publicly confirmed in November 2015; and they married in 2021. A photo gallery can illustrate those public chapters, not explain private relationships or rank either woman.
What the public timeline establishes
- Shelton and Lambert announced their divorce in July 2015, after four years of marriage.
- Stefani filed for divorce from Gavin Rossdale in August 2015.
- Shelton and Stefani’s relationship was publicly confirmed in November 2015. That is the confirmation date; it does not establish when a private relationship began.
- Stefani and Shelton married in 2021.
CBS News’ 2015 report records the relationship announcement and the divorce developments. The sequence gives context for dated public photographs, but it does not show why either marriage ended or establish what happened privately.

How The Voice fits into the story
Stefani and Shelton were fellow coaches on NBC’s The Voice. In a 2016 interview with TIME, Stefani recalled Shelton telling the group before filming that his divorce would be final by the time the show aired. Her account was: “And that’s when Blake was like, ‘Everybody, before we go out there, I want to let everyone know that by the time this airs, I will be divorced.’” This is Stefani’s recollection of Shelton’s words, not a direct interview with Shelton. Read the TIME interview.
What a photo comparison can fairly show
A useful gallery would identify each photograph by its verified date and event, then let readers see how the artists appeared in those public settings. It should not present expressions, clothing, body language, or proximity to Shelton as evidence of compatibility, happiness, fault, or who was the better partner. Those conclusions cannot be established from posed or candid images.

The headline’s “right choice” language works as a playful opinion, not a factual verdict. Lambert and Stefani are individual artists, not contestants in a measurable comparison, and the documented timeline supplies no criteria for declaring a winner. A 2024 Associated Press review connected Stefani’s album Bouquet with her relationship and family life; that later context still does not turn photographs into proof about a couple’s private life. Read the AP review.
Captions and image context matter
For a documentary-style comparison, captions should state what can be verified: the date, location or event, and who is pictured. A caption should not assign an emotional meaning to a look or suggest that an image explains a divorce. Confirm image licensing and caption details with the image provider before publication; the sources cited here do not establish rights for particular photographs.

Miranda Lambert’s connection to Shelton’s career

That is relevant context for their public history, but it does not make a career or personal ranking between Lambert and Stefani any more objective. See the Biography.com profile.
