Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX combines an alternate Universal Century history with an underground mobile-suit dueling circuit. Its official synopsis follows Amate Yuzuriha, a student drawn into Clan Battle after meeting Nyaan; a separate article about the show describes the larger twist: a timeline in which Zeon won the One Year War.
What is Gundam GQuuuuuuX about?
The official GQuuuuuuX series page introduces Amate Yuzuriha, a high-school student living in a space colony. Her life changes after she meets Nyaan, who draws her into Clan Battle, an illegal sport in which pilots duel in mobile suits.
Amate enters the competition as Machu and pilots the titular machine. The official synopsis then widens the story: an unidentified Gundam and its pilot, Shuji, appear while pursued by space forces and police. What begins with Amate’s entry into an underground competition is therefore tied to a larger mystery and a world on the brink of change.
What is the One Year War twist?
The continuity hook described in the article that brought attention to the show is a different outcome to the One Year War: Zeon wins instead of the Earth Federation. That alternate-history framing is reported by that article; it is not spelled out in the official English synopsis.
#1 Best Overall
- Part of the HG Series
- Bandai's newest "High Grade (HG)" model kit faithfully reproduces the new Gundam's distinctive form
- Loaded with articulation in the torso, hips, and elsewhere for dynamic posability after assembly!
- [Includes]: Weapons (x1 set) Backpack (x1 set) Interchangeable head part Interchangeable hands (x1 set) Stickers Marking stickers
The article places the series in Universal Century 0085, several years after the war. In its account, Char Aznable stole the Federation’s prototype Gundam, and the technology helped Zeon turn the conflict in its favor. By 0085, Char is missing, while a Red Gundam appears in underground mobile-suit battles.
This changes the historical backdrop without making the opening story a war chronicle. The show’s official entry point is Amate’s personal involvement in Clan Battle and Shuji’s arrival; the altered war outcome gives that immediate plot a different political history to unfold against.

How does GQuuuuuuX differ from the familiar Gundam setup?
| What to compare | Familiar frame | GQuuuuuuX frame |
|---|---|---|
| One Year War outcome | The Earth Federation is the expected victor in the familiar account of the conflict. | The article describes an alternate timeline in which Zeon wins. |
| Immediate story engine | The war and its consequences drive the historical backdrop. | Amate enters the underground Clan Battle circuit, then a pursued Gundam and Shuji enter the picture. |
The comparison is about the two supported distinctions: the war’s reported outcome and the series’ opening premise. It does not by itself establish how the show relates to every other Gundam continuity.
Who are Machu, Nyaan, and Shuji?
- Amate Yuzuriha: The student at the center of the official synopsis.
- Machu: Amate’s entry name in Clan Battle; she pilots the GQuuuuuuX under this name.
- Nyaan: The girl Amate meets, whose arrival draws her into the illegal dueling sport.
- Shuji: The pilot of the unidentified Gundam pursued by space forces and police.
The official GQuuuuuuX mecha profile identifies the machine as model gMS-Ω. It describes it as a mysterious, state-of-the-art mobile suit piloted by Machu in Clan Battle as part of the Pomeranians.
