Public aircraft-history records have historically linked George Lucas to a Gulfstream G550 registered as N138GL. That is a time-specific association, not evidence that Lucas currently flies a G550: more recent registration information identifies N138GL as a Gulfstream G700. Aircraft records also cannot show who is aboard a particular flight.
What is the Gulfstream G550?
The G550 is a Gulfstream business aircraft. Gulfstream lists it among its aircraft models, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) registration records use the designation “GV-SP (G550).” One FAA record classifies the aircraft as fixed-wing, multi-engine, turbo-fan.
Gulfstream’s G550 model page identifies the aircraft, while the FAA record for N55011 and FAA record for N588G show the agency’s model terminology. The FAA cautions that airworthiness information displayed in its inquiry records should not be used to determine whether an aircraft is airworthy.
How is the G550 connected to George Lucas?
Public aircraft-history sources associate N138GL, serial number 5476, with Lucas during the aircraft’s G550 period. The association is historical: a more recent registration summary identifies N138GL as a 2025 Gulfstream G700 registered to SWR Services III LLC. The aircraft’s model and registration context therefore depend on the period being discussed.

Aircraft histories and registration summaries document registrations and reported associations; they do not establish that Lucas is aboard a flight or personally controls the aircraft. See the Planespotters aircraft history, PrivJet’s George Lucas aircraft page, and FlightAware’s N138GL registration summary for the public records behind the identification.
What the public records can—and cannot—tell you
- They can identify an aircraft: registration records connect a tail number with a registered aircraft and provide identifying information such as its model designation.
- They cannot confirm a passenger: a registration or flight-tracking record does not, by itself, verify that a named person is aboard a specific flight.
- They can change over time: the N138GL example shows why a registration should be described with its relevant date and aircraft model rather than treated as a permanent identity.
Why exact G550 specifications are not included
Gulfstream’s official G550 page establishes the model, but the available source material does not provide verified figures for range, speed, cabin dimensions, passenger capacity, or operating cost. Those specifications can depend on configuration and should not be inferred from a celebrity aircraft association. No numerical performance claims are included here without a source that establishes the figure and its scope.
