A March 2026 report said filmmaker Guillermo del Toro gave Project Hail Mary a 10/10. The report is the basis for the rating: no verified post or verbatim comment from del Toro is available in the cited coverage, so the score should be treated as reported rather than independently confirmed.
What was reported about del Toro’s reaction?
Netflix Junkie reported on March 3, 2026, that del Toro had praised the film and characterized his response as a 10/10. Its article is secondary coverage, not a verified statement from del Toro. The available account does not establish his exact wording, so there is no reliable quotation to reproduce. Read the report.

Del Toro’s connection to the filmmakers
Separately from the reported rating, del Toro moderated a Directors Guild of America Q&A with Lord and Miller after a Los Angeles membership screening on April 19, 2026. The DGA account describes discussion of the film’s production, including the practical and digital work used to portray Rocky. It documents del Toro’s role in that later event; it does not verify the reported 10/10. Read the DGA event account.
