The current PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions launched on March 15, 2022. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Rockstar’s Performance RT mode targets 60 FPS with ray tracing at upscaled 4K—not native 4K. Fidelity mode instead targets 30 FPS with native 4K and ray tracing. Xbox Series S has different specifications and no Performance RT mode listed by Rockstar.
Is Rockstar remastering GTA 5 again?
No new remaster is announced in Rockstar’s cited materials. They describe the current-generation editions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, released March 15, 2022. Rockstar’s store lists the PS5 edition and describes the current-generation release; check the Rockstar Games Store for regional editions and current purchase terms.
Rockstar has continued to support the game with updates that include ray-tracing additions and performance or stability fixes. Those later notes show ongoing support, not an announcement of another remaster. See the Title Update 1.64 notes, Title Update 1.70 notes and Title Update 1.73 notes.
Which GTA 5 graphics modes are available?
Rockstar’s March 4, 2022 announcement gives three graphics modes. The figures below are Rockstar’s stated targets and specifications, not independent frame-rate test results.

These specifications come from Rockstar’s March 4, 2022 announcement. Rockstar’s store uses broader “up to” language; the mode breakdown is more precise about the differences between consoles and settings.
Does GTA 5 run at 60 FPS with ray tracing on PS5?
Yes, in Performance RT mode, which Rockstar lists for PS5 and Xbox Series X. It combines a 60 FPS target with ray tracing and upscaled 4K. The word “target” matters: this is the published mode specification, not a guarantee of a locked frame rate in every scene or an independent performance measurement.

Is GTA 5 4K on Xbox Series X?
Yes, but the resolution depends on the graphics mode. Fidelity is listed at native 4K with ray tracing and a 30 FPS target. Performance and Performance RT use upscaled 4K; the former targets 60 FPS without ray tracing, while the latter targets 60 FPS with it. Upscaled 4K should not be described as native 4K.
What changes on Xbox Series S?
Rockstar’s mode breakdown lists Performance at 1080p with a 60 FPS target for Series S. It does not list Performance RT for that console, and the PS5 and Series X resolution specifications should not be applied to it. For Series S, the cited announcement does not state comparable resolution and ray-tracing details for Fidelity.

How should you choose a graphics mode?
- Choose Fidelity if native 4K and ray tracing matter more to you than the higher frame-rate target; it targets 30 FPS on PS5 and Series X.
- Choose Performance if responsiveness and a 60 FPS target are the priority and ray tracing is not essential.
- Choose Performance RT on PS5 or Series X if you want the 60 FPS target and ray tracing together, accepting upscaled rather than native 4K.
Can you transfer Story Mode and GTA Online progress?
Rockstar’s store says the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions allow a one-time migration of GTA V Story Mode progress and GTA Online characters and progression. Because migration is described as one-time, check Rockstar’s current instructions and your account details before starting it.
