The promo description does not name Maggie. It says Meredith spends time with Amelia, while TheWrap’s post-air coverage confirms Maggie’s return to help Meredith care for Amelia. That distinction matters: Maggie’s appearance is confirmed by coverage of the episode itself, not by the promo description alone.
What does the Episode 2 promo preview?
ABC’s official press logline says the Grey Sloan team faces “a chaotic first day of surgical rotations amid hospital renovations.” The shorter ABC listing likewise describes the team navigating its first day of surgical rotations. The promo description mentions Meredith spending time with Amelia.

The aired episode also includes a pregnancy announcement from Maggie, according to TheWrap. That is an episode reveal, not something established by the promo description.
How does the episode follow the explosion?
Season 22 Episode 1, “Only the Strong Survive,” centers on the hospital explosion and staff members fighting to preserve life. “We Built This City” moves the story forward: Shondaland’s recap places it one week after the explosion, as Grey Sloan begins surgical rotations amid renovations.
Shondaland identifies the episode as the series’ 450th. That is an episode-count milestone, not a ratings or audience figure.
