The original Gossip Girl cast took different routes after the CW series ended in 2012: Blake Lively and Leighton Meester continued acting, Penn Badgley became widely associated with You, and Taylor Momsen built a career in music. The cast-wide updates below are drawn chiefly from a February 3, 2026 retrospective, so project and personal details are dated to that source; Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Georgina Sparks, died in 2025.
Where are the original Gossip Girl cast members now?
The CW series ran for six seasons, from September 2007 to December 2012. Its central Upper East Side characters were Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Dan Humphrey, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald and Jenny Humphrey. The update below focuses on the original cast and selected supporting performers, rather than the later revival.

Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen
Lively continued working in film after Gossip Girl and launched Blake Brown, her haircare line, in 2024. A February 2026 profile also described a legal dispute connected to It Ends With Us as ongoing at that time. That status can change, so this is not a claim about its outcome or present standing.
Penn Badgley as Dan Humphrey
Badgley went on to play Joe Goldberg in You, which concluded with its fifth and final season, according to the February 2026 retrospective. He also co-produced the series and hosted Podcrushed, a podcast about adolescence. The profile reported that Badgley and Domino Kirke have three children; it does not establish whether the podcast is currently active.

Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf
Meester continued her screen career. The February 2026 roundup lists her among the casts of Good Cop/Bad Cop, The Buccaneers, Nobody Wants This and I Love LA. It also reports that she and Adam Brody have two children. The roundup does not establish the latest release or renewal status of each listed project.
Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass
Westwick continued acting after the series. The February 2026 profile also reports two dated family milestones: he married Amy Jackson and became a father to their son in March 2025.
Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald
Crawford continued playing the Deep in The Boys and launched the fashion line American Dream Clubhouse in 2025, according to the February 2026 retrospective. That article described the show’s fifth season as expected in 2026; it did not confirm a release or completion date.
Taylor Momsen as Jenny Humphrey
Momsen left Gossip Girl during its fourth season to focus on music. She formed and fronted the rock band The Pretty Reckless, making her post-series path the clearest move away from acting among the central cast.
What happened to the supporting cast?
Jessica Szohr as Vanessa Abrams
Szohr continued acting and hosted the rewatch podcast XOXO with Jessica Szohr from 2022 to 2023. The February 2026 profile reports that she married Brad Richardson in August 2024.
Kelly Rutherford as Lily van der Woodsen
Rutherford’s later television roles included Dynasty and Power Book II: Ghost, as listed in the 2026 roundup. The profile also describes her move to Monaco to be near her children, but the details of her family-court history are not needed to understand her career update.

Matthew Settle as Rufus Humphrey
Settle’s later screen work included Ouija and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. The 2026 profile said the last credit it found in IMDb was 2017’s Valentine; that database-based cutoff does not establish that Settle has done no work since.
Connor Paolo as Eric van der Woodsen
After Gossip Girl, Paolo appeared in Revenge and continued with supporting work in independent projects, television and theater. The 2026 profile does not identify a newest current project.

Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina Sparks
Trachtenberg died on February 26, 2025, aged 39. The February 2026 retrospective reports complications from a liver transplant as the cause. Her work as Georgina made her a memorable presence in the series and its later seasons.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How did the cast’s post-series careers differ?
The cast’s paths were varied, not a single story of everyone moving on to equally visible projects. Lively, Meester, Badgley and Crawford remained prominent in screen roles; Momsen made music her primary focus; and others continued acting in a range of television, film, theater and independent work. Podcasting and business ventures also became part of some careers. The February 3, 2026 TVSquad retrospective is the date for the cast updates here, while Us Weekly’s February 28, 2025 retrospective cross-checks the series run and principal roles.
The original series later received a revival, which Us Weekly reported was canceled in January 2023 after two seasons. It is separate from the six-season CW series covered in this cast update.
