Google’s Halloween 2024 Doodle is the third Magic Cat Academy game. It sends Momo, the spell-casting cat, through layers of the atmosphere to battle ghosts—including her arch nemesis, Marshmallow. Google’s archive dates the interactive Doodle October 30, 2024.
What is the new Google Halloween game?
It is Magic Cat Academy 3, Google’s third Halloween adventure starring Momo. The official Halloween 2024 Doodle archive describes an “out of this world adventure” in which Momo battles Marshmallow the ghost across the layers of the atmosphere. The entry is dated October 30, 2024.
The setting continues the series’ progression from a school to the ocean and, in this installment, an atmospheric adventure with a space-themed feel. Google says Momo previously defeated ghouls at school and faced trouble in the ocean before taking on this latest challenge.
How do you play Magic Cat Academy 3?
Draw or swipe the symbols shown above approaching ghosts and other enemies to cast spells before they reach Momo. The mechanic carries forward the original game’s symbol-matching combat. Space.com’s October 31, 2024 report says the symbols become more demanding as the game progresses, while the number and approach speed of enemies increase.

Space.com reported that the Doodle was due to appear on Google’s homepage for 48 hours at launch in 2024; that was a historical window, not a statement of current availability. Check the official archive entry for the game.
Who is Momo the cat?
Momo is the black cat at the center of the Magic Cat Academy games. Google says the original spell-casting cat was inspired by a real black cat named Momo, who belongs to Doodler Juliana Chen. In the first game, Momo was a freshman at a school of magic trying to rescue her school.

How the three Magic Cat Academy games connect
| Installment | Setting | What Momo faces |
|---|---|---|
| 2016 | A school of magic | Ghouls; players match symbols above ghosts’ heads to cast spells. |
| 2020 | The ocean | A commotion beneath the water, as described in Google’s 2024 archive. |
| 2024 | Atmosphere and an out-of-this-world adventure | Ghostly enemies, including Marshmallow. |
The 2016 game’s five school levels introduced the core swipe-to-cast idea. The later entries keep Momo and symbol-drawing spell combat while moving her into new settings. Google’s archive identifies the 2024 edition as the third installment.
