Mina Starsiak Hawk and her mother, Karen E. Laine, took on separate renovation projects: Mina worked on an Indiana lake house, while Karen renovated a historic beach bungalow in Wilmington, North Carolina.
What is Good Bones: New Beginnings?
The series was a short return to the Good Bones franchise, with a different setup from the original mother-daughter renovation show. Rather than working together on one project, Mina and Karen pursued renovations separately across three episodes. HGTV announced it as a limited series. HGTV’s series overview describes the projects and format.
When did it air?
The reported premiere was August 14, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET. The other two episodes were scheduled for August 21 and August 28, 2024. These are past broadcast dates, not current listings. HGTV’s announcement and The Indianapolis Star’s August 2024 coverage reported the schedule.
What did Mina and Karen renovate?
Mina’s Indiana lake house
Mina’s episode followed her work on a lake house in Indiana. In the retreat, flooring manufacturer Karndean identifies its Natural Prime Oak VGW115T flooring as a product used in the project. The company also publishes Mina’s testimonial, “I absolutely love working with Karndean Designflooring.” That is a brand-published endorsement, not independent product testing or verification of current retailer availability. Karndean’s project page provides the product detail.

#1 Best Overall
Karen’s Wilmington beach bungalow
The other two episodes followed Karen’s renovation of a beach bungalow in Wilmington, North Carolina. Realtor.com described the house as 120 years old. Realtor.com’s coverage reported the age and location.
How is it different from the original Good Bones?
The clearest distinction is the format: the original show centered on Mina and Karen renovating together, while New Beginnings followed separate projects. The limited series ran for three episodes. Its format alone does not establish anything about the state of their personal relationship.
Where can you watch it now?
Current streaming availability is not established by the cited coverage. In August 2024, The Indianapolis Star reported that the series was not yet available on Max or Discovery+. That was a dated snapshot at publication, not evidence of where the episodes can be streamed in October 2026. Check the current HGTV schedule and streaming catalogs for your country, and confirm that all three episodes are available before subscribing or renting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is it a new season of Good Bones?
No. The available 2024 announcements describe Good Bones: New Beginnings as a separate three-episode limited series. Its episodes aired in August 2024, so it should not be described as a newly announced or currently airing season.
