What happened at the 2024 Golden Globes?
The ceremony was held Sunday, January 7, at the Beverly Hilton. Jo Koy hosted for the first time. The original U.S. telecast aired on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and was also available to stream on Paramount+ under the subscription terms announced for that broadcast (Paramount announcement).
It was the first Golden Globes ceremony since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association disbanded, according to CBS News. The organization’s assets were sold to Dick Clark Productions, CBS reported. The event marked a new chapter for the awards, but those details do not establish the organization’s full subsequent governance (CBS News; Associated Press).
Film winners: Oppenheimer leads with five
Oppenheimer won five awards: best motion picture drama, director for Christopher Nolan, drama actor for Cillian Murphy, supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr., and original score for Ludwig Göransson. Poor Things took the motion picture musical or comedy award and Emma Stone’s acting prize. Barbie won the separate Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award; it was not one of the night’s best-picture winners.
