Several Glow Up contestants turned the BBC Three competition into lasting makeup careers—but their paths look very different. Ellis Atlantis moved into beauty, editorial, drag, creator, and collaboration work; Ophelia Liu continued as a freelance makeup artist and content creator; Sophie Baverstock built a television, film, hairstyling, and online-education career; Yong-Chin Breslin continued with professional artistry and masterclasses; and Shania Parris has been developing toward prosthetics and special-effects makeup.
The evidence is not equally strong for every former contestant. This is a sourced career retrospective, current to the available research record through August 13, 2026, rather than a gossip-style claim that every cast member’s present job can be established.
The clearest post-show career updates
Glow Up has been a genuine launchpad for several contestants, but not in one uniform way. The best-documented alumni have moved into freelance makeup, television and film, hairstyling, prosthetics, content creation, masterclasses, and online education. The public record is much thinner for the wider cast, so a responsible update can identify verified professional work without pretending that every contestant’s current occupation is publicly known.
The researched record covers seven BBC series of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star. The show, originally associated with BBC Three and also listed by Netflix in some territories, puts makeup artists through professional and creative briefs. Netflix’s description highlights challenges involving social-media looks, edible makeup, blindfolded application, gender transformation, and theatrical drag.

Glow Up contestants: the verified career snapshot
| Series | Winner or status | Latest clearly documented direction |
|---|---|---|
| Series 1 | Ellis Atlantis | Working makeup artist, creator, and beauty collaborator, with editorial, drag, entertainment, and brand-related credits. |
| Series 2 | Ophelia Liu | Freelance makeup artist and content creator. |
| Series 3 | Sophie Baverstock | London-based professional makeup artist and hairstylist working across television, film, multimedia, music videos, and private clients; also an online makeup educator. |
| Series 4 | Yong-Chin Breslin | Professional makeup artist and content creator with industry listings and documented masterclass work. |
| Series 5 | Winner and current direction not included here | A final primary-source check is needed before assigning a reliable post-show update. |
| Series 6 | Shania Parris | Building toward prosthetics and special-effects makeup for film and television, alongside campaign work and formal training. |
| Series 7 | Winner recorded in secondary season records | No sufficiently strong first-party post-show career update was verified for this article. |
The table deliberately leaves Series 5 and Series 7 less specific. Naming a winner from a secondary cast summary is not the same as proving what that person is doing now. A “where are they now?” article is more useful when it distinguishes a documented update from an assumption.
Ellis Atlantis: beauty, editorial, drag, and creator work
Series-one winner Ellis Atlantis used the programme as a springboard into a broader makeup career. Beauty Bay’s profile connects Ellis with Beauty Bay editorial work, Rankin, Marie Claire, Kinky Boots, and an Ardell lashes line or collaboration. Those references support describing Ellis as a working makeup artist, creator, and beauty-industry collaborator rather than as someone known only for winning the first series.
Ellis has also been associated with a beauty-hygiene partnership focused on cleaning and sanitising makeup products, brushes, and tools. That is a particularly relevant part of the career story because professional makeup work is not only about inventive looks: kit maintenance and hygiene are essential when products and tools are used across clients or performers.
The careful wording matters here. The documented collaborations establish important career milestones, but they do not prove that every older brand relationship remains active in 2026. Nor do the available sources support a net-worth figure, an income estimate, or a claim that Ellis has an exclusive current ambassadorship.
Verified direction: makeup artist, creator, and beauty collaborator, with documented editorial, entertainment, drag, and product-related work.
Ophelia Liu: freelance makeup and content creation
Ophelia Liu won Series 2. Tatler Asia described her career as taking an upward trajectory after the show and presented her path as an unconventional career that became easier for her family to understand after the exposure Glow Up provided.
The most defensible update is that Liu continued to build a profile as a freelance makeup artist and content creator. The public evidence supports a longer-term beauty career, but it does not provide a comprehensive current client list, booking rates, income estimate, or confirmation that a particular older brand or business remains active.

That distinction is important with television alumni. A contestant can be professionally active without maintaining a large public portfolio, and content creation can sit alongside private bookings, freelance jobs, education, or work that is not routinely reported by entertainment media.
Sophie Baverstock: television, film, hairstyling, and online education
Sophie Baverstock, the Series 3 winner, has the strongest first-party career documentation in this research. Her professional website identifies her as a London-based makeup artist and hairstylist working across television, film, multimedia, music videos, and private clients. The site also references work connected with productions including Doctor Who and The Crown, as well as her Glow Up win.
Baverstock has also moved into structured online education. Her course, Fundamentals of Beauty: Mastering the Basics of Beauty Makeup, is described as containing more than six hours of instruction and more than 25 step-by-step lessons covering the fundamentals of beauty makeup.
That combination gives Baverstock one of the clearest examples of a Glow Up contestant turning television visibility into several connected income and career channels: professional services, screen work, hair and makeup, private clients, and teaching. The course is a current offering documented on her own site; it should not be confused with a claim that every past television or brand credit is still ongoing.

Verified direction: professional makeup artist, hairstylist, and online educator with a screen-work portfolio.
Yong-Chin Breslin: professional artistry and public masterclasses
Yong-Chin Breslin won Series 4 and has continued to appear in professional industry contexts. An agency profile describes Breslin as a makeup artist and content creator, while a makeup-agency site lists Breslin among its key artists.
A May 2025 report from The New Indian Express also documented Breslin bringing a Hollywood-themed makeup masterclass to Hyderabad. That event is useful evidence of continued public-facing work and education after the programme, rather than merely a repeat of the original competition result.
The safest present-tense summary is that Breslin remains professionally active as a makeup artist and creator, with agency listings and documented masterclass work. Older secondary coverage discussed ambitions or possible relocation, but those reports should not be converted into a current location claim without a newer first-party confirmation.

Shania Parris: the move toward prosthetics and special effects
Shania Parris, the Series 6 champion, has one of the clearest documented links between the show and a developing production-makeup career. A University College Birmingham profile says that Parris won a contract to assist leading makeup artists on high-profile campaigns.
The same institutional profile records work on looks for Haus Labs and Foot Locker, body-painted avatars for Roblox, and a masterclass at Harvey Nichols. It also identifies Parris as a postgraduate student in Prosthetics for Film and Television, with an ambition to work in prosthetics and special-effects makeup for production.
Parris’s earlier placement work creating prosthetics for West Midlands Police disaster training adds another dimension to the story. It shows how makeup and prosthetics skills can apply beyond beauty campaigns and entertainment publicity, including realistic training environments.

Because the university profile was published in 2024, it is best treated as the latest verified institutional snapshot available in this research, not as a guarantee of Parris’s exact August 2026 job title or project list. The evidence does, however, clearly support a continuing direction toward prosthetics, special effects, and film-and-television production work.
Verified direction: prosthetics and special-effects training, campaign work, masterclasses, and production-focused makeup development.
What about the Series 5 and Series 7 contestants?
The research confirms that the programme continued through Series 7, and University College Birmingham event coverage identifies participation by Series 7 contestants. Secondary season records also identify a Series 7 winner and finalists. What is not strong enough for publication is a detailed, current career account for that cohort.
Series 5 likewise needs a final check against an official BBC, production, contestant-owned, university, agency, or comparable first-party source before a winner and post-show status are presented as settled facts. It is better to leave that row qualified than to repeat a fan-maintained cast summary as if it were current reporting.

This does not mean the newer contestants stopped working or failed to build careers. It means the available public documentation has not yet established a reliable update. Newer alumni may be working privately, developing portfolios, studying, freelancing under a name that is difficult to search, or pursuing work outside public-facing beauty media.
Why it is difficult to track every Glow Up contestant
The winners and the most visible finalists have left the clearest public trail: personal websites, agency profiles, university features, media interviews, course pages, and documented events. Many other contestants do not have the same level of coverage.
That uneven visibility should not be mistaken for professional failure. A private social account, an inactive public profile, or the absence of a recent interview cannot establish that someone left makeup or is no longer working. Freelance artists often work through referrals, production companies, agencies, or private clients without publishing every booking.
The most accurate wider-cast summary is therefore: some contestants appear to continue in freelance beauty, hair, content, education, or production work, while others have lower-profile or less easily searchable careers. The evidence supports that pattern, but not a definitive occupation for every person who appeared on the programme.
How Glow Up functions as a career launchpad
The show’s format helps explain why the alumni outcomes are so varied. Contestants are not judged only on whether a look is attractive. They must interpret a brief, work quickly, adapt to a model or performer, present a concept, and demonstrate technical control under competition pressure.
The challenge range also exposes artists to different parts of the field. Social-media makeup demands camera awareness and repeatable visual impact. Edible makeup, blindfolded application, gender transformation, and theatrical drag test adaptability, construction, collaboration, and storytelling. Those skills can lead in different directions after the show:
- Freelance beauty: weddings, private clients, editorial shoots, events, and commercial work.
- Screen and production: continuity, character makeup, hairstyling, prosthetics, and special effects.
- Brand and editorial work: campaigns, product demonstrations, creative direction, and collaborations.
- Content creation: tutorials, social-media looks, demonstrations, and audience-building.
- Education: courses, workshops, masterclasses, and formal specialist training.
Ellis Atlantis, Sophie Baverstock, Yong-Chin Breslin, and Shania Parris illustrate different versions of that progression. The show can create visibility, but the subsequent career still depends on portfolio development, professional relationships, specialist skills, and the artist’s chosen market.

The useful buying criteria are more basic: a mixture of shapes and sizes, secure handles, bristles suited to cream and powder products, a case that protects the tools, and a cleaning routine you will actually follow. Beginners may be better served by a manageable set with clearly useful brushes than by a very large collection containing several near-duplicates.

Hygiene deserves equal attention. Ellis Atlantis’s documented beauty-hygiene work is a reminder that cleaning and sanitising brushes, palettes, and other tools is part of professional practice. If you are practising on other people, follow the product manufacturer’s directions and use appropriate single-use items where necessary. A brush cleaner or sanitising spray can be a sensible kit-maintenance purchase, but no particular product is being presented here as contestant-used or contestant-endorsed.
Readers who want a more structured route can also compare a makeup artist online course for beauty fundamentals or look into special-effects makeup training if prosthetics and screen work are the goal. Sophie Baverstock’s own course and Shania Parris’s documented postgraduate training show that education can be part of an artist’s career after television, while not implying that any third-party course is affiliated with either artist.
Where can you watch Glow Up?
Netflix’s official listing confirms Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star as a streamable title, while broadcaster and season records associate the programme with BBC Three. Availability is territory-dependent: the number of seasons, release timing, and whether the title appears in a particular country’s catalogue can change.

Evidence note
This retrospective relies most heavily on contestant-owned professional material, University College Birmingham profiles, agency listings, and reputable interviews or beauty-publication profiles. Sophie Baverstock’s website and course page provide the strongest first-party evidence; the University College Birmingham profile provides the clearest institutional update for Shania Parris; and Beauty Bay, Tatler Asia, agency material, and The New Indian Express supply documented context for other alumni.
Where a source describes a past collaboration, event, course, or profile, the article treats it as a documented milestone. It does not automatically describe that item as an active 2026 partnership. No net-worth, salary, booking-rate, or private-life claims are included because the available evidence does not support them.

Not necessarily. The available public documentation is much stronger for winners and high-profile alumni than for the full cast. A private social account, a quiet portfolio, or a lack of recent media coverage does not prove that a contestant left the industry.
Is Glow Up available on Netflix everywhere?
Netflix lists Glow Up in some territories, but catalogues differ by country and can change. Check the Netflix listing or a local availability service for your country and confirm which series are included.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The best-documented Glow Up alumni have built real careers beyond the competition, spanning freelance beauty, editorial and brand work, screen makeup, content, masterclasses, online education, and prosthetics. But the public record is uneven, especially for Series 5, Series 7, and the wider cast, so the honest answer is a verified career snapshot—not a claim that every contestant’s present whereabouts are known.
