It contains ten tracks. Frontman Dave Bayley described its title as a phrase whose meaning shifts with emphasis, and framed the album around human connection and the many forms love can take.
Release date and album context
The album was announced on 3 April 2024 and released on 19 July 2024. Universal Music Canada’s announcement and release-day notice identify it as Glass Animals’ fourth studio album and associate it with Polydor Records/Universal Music Canada.

Bayley’s account also connects the album’s starting point with personal disorientation. He said that life could change dramatically while a person struggled to change at the same pace, leaving him feeling like a spectator and unsure who he was or whether things were real. The label situates that account after the band’s rapid success and the pandemic-era experience; it is Bayley’s description of his state of mind, not a claim that every song is autobiographical.
What the album is about
Bayley said the words in the title take on different meanings depending on how they are said. His explanation moves from that shifting emphasis to the scale of human connection: the universe can make people feel small, while love appears in many forms and even a tiny instance can have lasting effects. The full statement appears in the April announcement.

The label’s release-day description presents the ten songs as portraits of love, from first love and romance to hate and heartbreak. It also describes a retro-futuristic production and imagery that travels from a small teardrop in an airlock to a galaxy. Those are the label’s framing and imagery, rather than an independent critical assessment of the album.

What is documented about the CD and vinyl editions?
The official store pages document physical editions and their packaging. They establish what was listed, not whether a particular edition is currently in stock, available in a given country, or offered by Amazon.

What did critics say?
Universal Music Canada’s release-day page reproduces selected favorable responses: Dork’s five-star rating, DIY’s 4.5-star rating, and Rolling Stone UK’s four-star rating, along with brief praise attributed to those publications. This is a selection of label-hosted reactions, not a comprehensive review survey, so it should not be read as a consensus across critics.
The same label’s 2024 announcements give promotional context for the release: they attribute 12 million global copies sold to the preceding album, Dreamland, and report 44 billion global streams for Glass Animals as of the April announcement. These are dated label-reported figures, not independently audited totals or current counts. The April announcement also says fans submitted 15,000 questions within the first couple of days of the album-world landing page; that is a promotional claim about that specific page and period.
