In an exclusive published October 29, 2024, PEOPLE reported the pregnancy details based on a source it did not name. Yahoo Entertainment reproduced the report and identifies Daniel S. Levine as its author. The source was quoted as saying Bündchen was “excited” and “feels good.” Those phrases are the source’s account, not a direct statement from Bündchen. The report said the baby would be Bündchen’s first with her boyfriend, Joaquim Valente, and her third child. It described her as several months along and said she planned a home birth. The cited report does not establish whether she later confirmed that plan or where the birth took place.
What a planned home birth involves—and what ACOG says
The report did not give information about Bündchen’s individual medical circumstances. General guidance from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) should not be treated as an assessment of her eligibility or personal risk.

ACOG says planned home birth is associated with fewer maternal interventions than planned hospital birth, but its cited evidence also finds increased risks for certain perinatal and newborn outcomes. In its Committee Opinion 697, published in 2017 with an interim update noted on the page, ACOG summarizes the evidence as showing a more than twofold increased risk of perinatal death—1–2 per 1,000 births—and a threefold increased risk of neonatal seizures or serious neurologic dysfunction—0.4–0.6 per 1,000—compared with planned hospital birth. These are population-level figures in ACOG’s summary, not personalized estimates. ACOG Committee Opinion 697: Planned Home Birth.
ACOG also notes that outcomes depend on factors such as appropriate candidate selection, a qualified birth attendant, consultation with medical care, an integrated care system and timely access to hospital transport. The committee identifies fetal malpresentation, multiple gestation and prior cesarean delivery as absolute contraindications to planned home birth.

Why hospital-transfer planning matters
Home birth can require transfer to a hospital if complications arise. In studies summarized in Committee Opinion 697, intrapartum transfer rates were 23–37% for women giving birth for the first time and 4–9% for women who had given birth before. ACOG’s patient FAQ explains that complications may develop even after a healthy pregnancy and encourages people planning a home birth to arrange in advance for transfer to a nearby hospital. It also discusses factors relevant to lower complication risk, including a singleton pregnancy, a head-first baby and delivery at term. These are general considerations, not facts about Bündchen. In a 2025 statement, ACOG said protocols for safe, timely transfer should be in place for all patients planning an out-of-hospital birth, regardless of apparent obstetric or neonatal risk factors during pregnancy or at the onset of labor.
