No. The producers of Gen V announced on May 5, 2024, that they would not recast Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson. They said the Season 2 storylines would be reworked to honor the actor. In the completed season, Andre’s death is addressed offscreen, and showrunner Michele Fazekas later explained how Perdomo’s death shaped the story and its ending.
What the producers announced
Perdomo played Andre Anderson, a Godolkin University student with magnetic-manipulation abilities. In a statement reported by TVLine on May 5, 2024, the producers said: “We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance.” They added: “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”
The producers also said the team was reworking the season’s storylines. The Los Angeles Times, reporting on May 6, 2024, quoted their statement: “As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at ‘Gen V’ is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory.”
How Season 2 handled Andre’s absence
Andre’s death takes place offscreen between seasons. In an interview published October 22, 2025, by the Television Academy, showrunner Michele Fazekas said the writing team re-broke the season after the decision not to recast. She said the changes affected the ending and that she was adamant about not killing another character in light of the real-life loss.
