In an August 2020 People en Español profile, Gabriel Soto and Irina Baeva described how they met, their life together in Acapulco during the pandemic, and the scrutiny surrounding their relationship. They later separated: Soto announced the breakup in July 2024, while Baeva disputed her involvement in that announcement. The accounts do not establish a mutually agreed explanation for the split.
How Soto and Baeva met
People en Español reported that the actors met in 2016 while filming the Mexican soap opera Vino el Amor. According to the profile, they were first spotted together in 2018 and made their relationship Instagram-official in January 2019. These dates are the chronology reported in the 2020 article, not a claim that the couple is still together.
In that interview, Soto described the closeness of their life at the time: “We are together all the time, and what I enjoy most is being with her.”
What their Acapulco life looked like in 2020
The profile said Soto and Baeva had moved from Mexico City to Acapulco in late March 2020. Soto’s family beach house became a refuge during the pandemic. He called it their “family temple,” explaining: “This is the place where I find my center. It’s where I reconnect with myself.”

The article depicted a domestic routine that included time with Soto’s daughters, exercise, reading, and meditation. It also reported that Baeva’s family had traveled from Russia and could not return because of COVID-19 travel restrictions. Her plans to study English in New York and visit Russia were postponed. Reflecting on the unexpected time with her family, Baeva said: “Everything happens for a reason.” These were circumstances described in 2020, not an account of their present-day home or plans.
The controversy surrounding the relationship’s beginnings
The 2020 profile noted that critics accused Baeva of being “the other woman” around the time of Soto’s divorce from Mexican actress Geraldine Bazán. Soto denied infidelity and said Baeva was not the reason for his split. Those are the accusations and denial as reported in the interview; the profile does not independently resolve them.

Are Gabriel Soto and Irina Baeva still together?
No. Telemundo reported on July 24, 2024, that Soto publicly announced the end of the relationship after several years together. The statement attributed to the couple said the decision followed months of reflection and that the reasons would remain private. People en Español also reported the separation and reproduced the privacy language.
In a July 2024 interview with ¡HOLA!, Baeva gave a different account of the announcement. She said she had not drafted or signed the statement, had not agreed to it, and was surprised when it appeared. The reported statement and Baeva’s account should be understood as separate claims: the available reports do not independently settle their disagreement or establish a definitive cause of the breakup.
