Inspired by a real case, but fictionalized
Gaanth is described as inspired by the 2018 Burari deaths, but it is a fictionalized crime drama. India Today calls it “a fictionalised account” of the deaths, and The Times of India also describes it as inspired by the case. The Chandel family, characters, and dramatic revelations belong to the series; they should not be treated as evidence about what happened in the real event.

Is it worth watching?

Who is likely to enjoy it
This is a better fit for viewers who want a moody, twist-heavy police thriller than for those seeking a careful documentary treatment of a real crime. It combines an abrasive, unstable investigator with Sakshi’s pattern recognition and a story of prejudice and survival. The opening crime scene includes fictionalized imagery of a family hanging in a circular formation, with tied hands and gagged mouths, so viewers sensitive to grisly crime-scene material should be prepared for disturbing content.
