Fussclass Dabhade turns a younger brother’s wedding into a reunion with unfinished business. This Marathi family comedy-drama has a lively ensemble and a recognisable portrait of sibling affection tangled up with resentment; its emotional reach is real, though its crowded plotting and conventional reconciliation can make the journey feel uneven.
What is Fussclass Dabhade about?
Written and directed by Hemant Dhome, the film gathers the Dabhade family for the wedding of its youngest son, Prashant. The celebrations provide a bright, comic surface, but the siblings bring years of barbs and old hurts with them. As family secrets and fresh wounds come into view, the story asks whether they can repair their bond without denying one another room to be different.

That push and pull is the film’s most affecting idea: the people who know how to hurt each other best may also be the people whose approval and affection matter most. The premise is kept spoiler-light here; the later revelations and resolution are best left for the film.
Does the family drama work?
In her review for Scroll.in, Nandini Ramnath calls the sibling dynamic “a family dynamic that feels familiar – sometimes uncomfortably so.” That recognition gives the drama its strongest foundation: these relationships feel shaped by long familiarity rather than by a single disagreement invented to drive the plot.
#1 Best Overall
Ramnath praises Dhome’s direction and the ensemble, singling out Siddharth Chandekar, Kshitee Jog, Amey Wagh, Harish Dudhade, and Rajshri Bhave. The performances help the family feel like a group with history, rather than a collection of characters waiting for their turns to deliver jokes or revelations.
The film’s movement from wedding comedy to more direct emotional drama is also a point of tension. Ramnath finds the latter half emotionally effective, but argues that the tone wanders and that some changes of heart feel more like wish fulfilment than earned transformation. Its reconciliation is conventional, too. Those are her critical judgments, not a settled consensus; viewers who welcome a familiar family-drama payoff may respond differently from those who want every turn to feel fully prepared.
