What activities were on at the 2025 Canning Show?
A PerthNow preview published on 30 October 2025 reported a mix of family entertainment, demonstrations and exhibition displays at the two-day show. The reported activities included:
- A quiet sensory space, open on both show days.
- An eco-friendly scavenger hunt featuring donated soft toys.
- More than 2,000 exhibition entries, according to the preview.
- Cow-milking and dog-mustering demonstrations, plus animal farm cuddles.
- A silent disco.
- Rides on a model American Ford LTL 9000 road train.
- Fireworks on both nights.
The preview described these as “fun and free activities,” but that wording is not evidence that admission to the showgrounds was free or that every attraction had no extra charge. The Canning Show’s current FAQ explains that its current admission ticket covers listed free entertainment and activities while rides are separately ticketed; it refers to current policy and does not verify the 2025 ticket terms. The sensory space was reported open during both public show days. Separately, CAHRS arranged a two-hour private community preview for people who may find crowds overwhelming, including people with sensory processing differences. PerthNow reported that 1,300 tickets were allocated across 30 community organisations. This was a private early-access arrangement, not a general public session; the preview did not identify a public booking route.

CAHRS chief executive David Russell said, “Our early openers will be the first to enjoy exclusive previews of new attractions, interactive workshops, and local produce displays before the general crowds arrive,” as quoted by PerthNow.
How did the soft-toy scavenger hunt work?
The reported scavenger hunt used soft toys donated through Good Sammy. PerthNow quoted Good Sammy CEO Kane Blackman saying, “For every 100 soft toys sold through Good Sammy, we prevent at least three tonnes of carbon emissions that would otherwise be generated by producing new toys.” This is Good Sammy’s attributed environmental claim, not an independently evaluated result in the available sources.

When and where was the show, and was there a shuttle?
The show was scheduled at Cannington Exhibition Centre and Showgrounds, with gates opening at 5pm on Friday 31 October and 10am on Saturday 1 November 2025. PerthNow reported a free shuttle between Cannington train station and the showgrounds. Its report did not give a timetable, frequency, route details or accessibility information.
What did the organiser report after the show?
CAHRS’ retrospective 2025 results page reports more than 11,000 attendees, more than 2,600 people entering an exhibition class and over $19,000 in cash prizes for exhibits. Those figures are the organiser’s; they measure people entering classes, whereas PerthNow’s preview described more than 2,000 exhibition entries. Entrants and entries are different measures. What is known about 2025 admission costs?
The historical sources available for this event do not establish the 2025 general admission price, ride prices or the precise ticket inclusions. The current FAQ should not be used to infer past prices or terms. CAHRS described its aim as making the show an event patrons could “choose to enjoy without costing a fortune,” in a statement quoted by PerthNow, but that does not specify what visitors paid.
