Sekiro: No Defeat, the animated adaptation of FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is listed by KADOKAWA for broadcast and streaming in January 2027. Its three-week theatrical run in Japan began on September 4, 2026. Crunchyroll announced exclusive streaming outside Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus, though viewers should check their local catalog for availability.
When does the Sekiro anime come out?
KADOKAWA’s current listing gives Sekiro: No Defeat a January 2027 broadcast and streaming window. It does not specify an exact day. The earlier 2025 Crunchyroll announcement said the anime would premiere in 2026; KADOKAWA’s newer January 2027 listing is the current date to use.

In Japan, the film’s three-week limited theatrical run began September 4, 2026. That release date has passed. KADOKAWA classifies the theatrical work PG12, a Japanese classification that should not be treated as a rating for other territories.
Where can you watch Sekiro: No Defeat?
Crunchyroll announced that it would stream the anime exclusively outside Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus. The announcement does not establish availability in every other country or confirm the title’s current local catalog status, so check Crunchyroll in your region as the January 2027 window approaches.

Is the anime based on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice?
Yes. Sekiro: No Defeat adapts the central premise of FromSoftware’s 2019 game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Set in Sengoku-era Ashina, the story follows Wolf, a shinobi sworn to protect the young Kuro. Kuro’s Dragon’s Heritage can grant immortality, but it is tied to Dragonrot, a fatal illness affecting others. Kuro resolves to sever the heritage even if doing so costs him his life, while Wolf fights to change his master’s fate.

The announced synopsis establishes that shared premise, but it does not say which of the game’s endings the anime will use.
Who is making the anime?
FromSoftware describes the adaptation as full 2D animation, while the official anime site calls it a full hand-drawn 2D animation movie. KADOKAWA lists Qzil.la as the animation studio and ARCH as producer.

Crunchyroll’s 2025 announcement said Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice had sold more than 10 million copies globally at that point. That is a dated figure, not a current sales total.

JAKKS Pacific and Crunchyroll announced a toy partnership that names Sekiro: No Defeat as a partner property. The announcement does not confirm particular Sekiro products or their availability for sale. Similarly, official anime-site notices about theatrical bonuses and goods are not proof that those items remain in stock.
