What happens in “Shatter”?
The premiere picks up after the Season 2 cliffhanger, but the music-box threat and Tabitha’s journey through the Faraway Tree belong to the preceding finale, not to new revelations in this episode. Season 3 begins with the consequences of those events: Tabitha is outside the town, while the people left behind face an immediate struggle to keep themselves fed.

The story follows two strands. In town, the residents try to protect their livestock as the threat around them turns a recovery effort into a trap. Outside, Tabitha follows a clue from Victor’s past and reaches a person who may help explain his history.
Why do the animals matter?
The crops have rotted, leaving residents afraid that their food supply will run short. The livestock is therefore a crucial remaining source of food, not just another mystery in the town. When the animals are let loose at night, Boyd, Victor, Jade, and Tian-Chen go out to bring them back. Their need to protect the animals draws them into danger.

Who dies in From Season 3, Episode 1?
Tian-Chen Liu dies. The monsters restrain her and Boyd in a barn and force Boyd to watch as they kill her. The episode makes her death an act of deliberate cruelty toward Boyd as well as a devastating loss for the community.
Kenny is not at the barn: he is away with Jim and learns about his mother’s death after he returns. The loss is personal for him, and it leaves the town grieving while it is already struggling to protect its food supply.

What happens to Tabitha after the lighthouse?
Tabitha is outside the town after the lighthouse events at the end of Season 2. She uses Victor’s lunchbox to find the Camden address associated with him, then meets Victor’s father at the house. The encounter connects her unexpected arrival in the outside world to Victor’s past, but the premiere does not resolve the larger mystery of how the town works or what the meeting will mean for her.
What are the seven other reveals?
The headline promises seven additional reveals, but the accessible excerpt of the article named in that headline does not establish a complete, verifiable list. It would be misleading to invent seven items or treat speculation as something the episode confirms. The clearly supported developments in “Shatter” are the crop-and-livestock crisis, the night-time rescue, Tian-Chen’s death and its impact on Boyd and Kenny, and Tabitha’s meeting with Victor’s father.

What the premiere changes
“Shatter” pushes the season forward on three fronts: survival becomes more urgent as food spoils, the monsters show how far they will go to torment Boyd, and Tabitha’s meeting opens a connection between the town’s residents and the world beyond it. Those are the episode’s grounded developments; further explanations of the town’s mysteries remain unresolved here.
