The scene was Jason Street and Tim Riggins’ emotional goodbye in New York, near the end of Jason’s story on Friday Night Lights. Scott Porter, who played Jason, later said he and Taylor Kitsch, who played Tim, both cried while filming their final scene together.
Which scene brought Scott Porter to tears?
It was the final New York scene Porter filmed with Kitsch. In a November 11, 2008 interview with TV Guide, Porter said he and Kitsch flew to New York for his last week on the show. Recalling their final scene together, he said: “the two of us couldn’t keep it together in the last scene … there were definitely tears.”

The episode reference is “New York, New York,” the Season 3 storyline that brings Jason to New York. An Entertainment Weekly podcast listing also describes Porter recalling the scene that brought both actors to tears.
Why were they crying?
The scene was a goodbye between Jason and Tim as Jason’s story reached its conclusion. The distinction matters: Porter described a real emotional reaction from the actors during filming. The tears were not fictional dialogue, and Porter did not identify a particular line as the cause.
