Where to find free Christmas overlays
Browse the Streamlabs Overlay and Widget Theme Library and its holiday collections. The library includes free overlays and widget themes, while full-library access is part of Streamlabs Ultra. Availability varies by item, so check the selected theme’s access status before building your scene. The Streamlabs library guide explains how to navigate collections and install an overlay through Streamlabs Desktop.
Check the artwork terms as well as the price
Free access to a design does not by itself establish permission for every use. Before using an overlay in a monetized stream, review the individual item’s usage terms. There is no universal license established for all Christmas graphics in the library.
Install an overlay in Streamlabs Desktop

Open the Streamlabs overlay library and select a Christmas design. Confirm whether that particular item is free or requires Ultra.

Choose Select and Install, select the components you want, and confirm the installation in Streamlabs Desktop.

Open the relevant scene collection and check that the overlay appears in the intended scene. Review its placement and size in the canvas before going live.

Streamlabs’ overlay setup guide also describes importing an .overlay file through Settings → Scene Collections → Import Overlay File. After importing, add any image files as sources to the scenes where you want them, such as Starting Soon, Live, or BRB.
Use a Streamlabs overlay with OBS
Streamlabs documents two OBS routes: its OBS plugin and importing a scene collection. The Streamlabs Plugin for OBS guide says the plugin is free to download and use, while some animated overlays and widget themes are Ultra features. Check the specific theme’s access requirements rather than assuming every library item is included.

Import a scene collection
Use the scene-collection import instructions in Streamlabs’ overlay setup guide. Once imported, inspect the scenes and confirm that the required overlay assets are present.
Assemble a scene from image files

In OBS, open the scene where the Christmas graphics should appear and add the image files as sources.

Arrange the source order so the overlay sits above the video or other background elements it should cover.

Scale and position each image in the canvas, then preview the scene to ensure it does not obscure important content.

OBS itself is free for any use, including commercial use, according to the OBS Project Help Portal. That software license does not grant rights to third-party artwork; check the overlay’s own usage terms.

- Access: Verify whether the particular theme is free or requires a subscription.
- Components: Check whether it includes only decorative artwork or also scene elements such as alerts or widgets.
- Usage terms: Confirm that the item’s license allows your intended use, especially if the stream is monetized.
