After Fred again..’s surprise Langley Park show in Perth sold out in March 2024, Facebook Marketplace listings advertised individual tickets for $230, $250 and $300, according to PerthNow. Those were examples from the time—not current offers or a representative survey of resale prices. Western Australia’s resale cap applies when an event has a resale restriction: advertised tickets must be no more than 10% above their original cost, and listings must include the original price and ticket-location details.
What happened after the Langley Park show sold out?
PerthNow reported on 28 March 2024 that 35,000 tickets for Fred again..’s surprise Perth show sold out in two hours on Wednesday night. Tickets were reported to cost $129. Within hours, Facebook Marketplace ads were appearing for tickets at substantially higher asking prices.
The report gave three examples: one listing at $300, one at $250—which its seller described as a “good price”—and another at $230. These are individual asking prices reported at the time, not an average, a verified set of completed sales, or evidence that any listing remains active. PerthNow’s 28 March 2024 report also showed an invoice example with a $129.80 ticket and a $6.95 handling fee.
Is it legal to resell a ticket above face value in WA?
Not necessarily. Under Consumer Protection WA’s current ticket-scalping guidance, restrictions are set by the authorized seller, venue or event organiser. When a resale restriction applies to a Western Australian event, an advertised ticket cannot cost more than 10% above its original ticket cost. The advertisement must also state the original price and ticket-location details, such as the relevant section or bay, row and seat, and any restricted-view information.

- Note:Please remove the protective film before use. Thank you.
- 1. Double-sided display: This ticket stub holder is made of transparent acrylic material and has a size of 4x9 inches. The larger size can accommodate more types of tickets and clearly display the tickets inside. Whether it is a play ticket, a concert ticket or a ball game ticket, the details of the ticket can be seen at a glance. The transparent design is not only beautiful and generous, but also adds a unique sense of art, making your precious ticket a beautiful landscape in your home or office space.
- 2. Stable base: The ticket stub display has a 4.5×2×0.5-inch transparent acrylic base with two card slots for straight and oblique insertion. The base design is stable to ensure that the ticket holder will not easily tip over during the display process. Whether it is placed on a desktop, windowsill or display stand, it can steadily carry the ticket stubs, allowing the ticket stubs to be displayed steadily in the position you want, avoiding damage to the ticket stubs due to accidental collisions.
- 3. Protect the ticket stubs: The four corners of the ticket stub frame are magnetically attached. When using it, there is no need to borrow external tools. The ticket stubs can be directly inserted and opened and closed by magnetic attraction. This design is not only easy to operate, but also ensures that the ticket holder fits tightly when closed and will not be accidentally opened due to external force. At the same time, the strong magnetic attraction will not cause any damage to the ticket stubs, and can effectively protect the integrity of the ticket stubs, so that your precious ticket stubs are always in good preservation.
- 4. Smooth edges: The ticket stub organizer adopts a rounded edge design with smooth edges, Not easy to deform and break, which avoids the possible damage to the hands caused by sharp corners when using or touching the ticket stub holder display stand. The rounded corner design improves the comfort during use, allowing you to easily and efficiently protect and organize your ticket collection.
The cap is conditional: it applies when a resale restriction is in place. Do not assume that an old event’s rules or ticket outlets apply to another show. Check the event’s own terms and authorized seller.
For the 2024 Langley Park listings, PerthNow reported that Ticketek limited purchases to four tickets per person and warned that separate transactions attempting to exceed the limit risked cancellation. The report quoted Frankie Pennington, then identified as Consumer Protection WA Principal Media Officer: “It is illegal for tickets to WA events to be sold for more than 10 per cent over the original ticket price when a resale restriction applies.” Pennington also said: “Anyone reselling a ticket must include the original ticket cost (including booking fees) and details of the section/bay, row and seat number in any advertisements.”

Penalties for breaking the rule
Consumer Protection WA says it can issue an infringement notice of $2,000 per offence. If a matter goes to court, fines may be up to $20,000 for an individual or $100,000 for a corporation. See the agency’s ticket-scalping guidance for the current rules and enforcement information.
How to avoid fake or invalid concert tickets
A social-media listing is not proof that a ticket is valid or transferable. Consumer Protection WA warns that fake tickets are sold online and advises buyers to check the authorized seller’s website and contact that seller if they have concerns.

- Find the event’s official ticketing information. Use the event page or organiser’s announcement to identify its authorized ticket seller and any official resale platform.
- Check resale terms before paying. Confirm that resale is allowed, whether the ticket can be transferred, and what price and listing disclosures are required for that event.
- Verify a suspicious offer with the seller. If you cannot confirm the ticket’s validity or transfer process, contact the authorized seller rather than relying on a screenshot, invoice or seller’s assurance.
- Use the official resale route when one is provided. For the 2024 Langley Park show, PerthNow reported that Consumer Protection WA urged fans to buy directly through Ticketek or through Ticketek Marketplace. Those directions relate to that event; confirm the authorized outlet for any future Fred again.. show separately.
Authorized channels are event-specific. For example, a 2025 WWE Perth announcement named Ticketek and Ticketek Marketplace for that event, while Fred again..’s event FAQ directs buyers to Ticketek Australia. Neither establishes ticket availability or resale rules for another event. Consumer Protection WA’s advice is to check the relevant event’s authorized seller.
