Does Dhan die after being shot?
No. Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll confirms that Dhan survives. That does not mean the shooting is a clean escape: she says the injury carries consequences and stresses the danger of M&A’s work. Dhan’s husband, Ethan, tells Gabi to leave the hospital because he wants to be alone with Dhan if Dhan does not survive. The moment makes the immediate fear clear, while Carroll’s later confirmation resolves Dhan’s fate.
Why the injury changes the stakes
Carroll describes M&A’s members as civilians trying to turn their own trauma into purpose—not police officers or superheroes. They generally do not carry weapons, so the work can expose them to serious danger without the protections or training associated with law enforcement. Dhan’s injury underscores that cost rather than treating a shooting as a consequence-free cliffhanger.

What it means for Dhan and Ethan
The shooting also intensifies a conflict between Ethan and Dhan. Ethan sees Gabi as a path toward danger for Dhan; Dhan, meanwhile, is loyal to Gabi as well as devoted to Ethan. Carroll says the challenge ahead is to reconcile what both partners need while respecting their relationship.
What is the gunshot at Trent’s house—and who gets shot?
Sir enters Trent’s home and tells him that Trent’s father handled an apparent serial-kidnapper case involving seven cold cases of young children, with no press coverage or arrests. Gabi arrives in time to hear a gunshot. The episode’s reported aftermath does not identify whose gun fired or who was hit, so the person shot in that final confrontation remains unresolved by this episode’s interview.
Rank #2
Carroll says the fallout is picked up directly in Episode 10 and that the encounter has consequences for the rest of the season. It is important to keep this cliffhanger separate from Dhan’s shooting: Dhan’s survival is confirmed, while the identity of the person struck by the gunshot at Trent’s home is not disclosed here.
Why Sir and Trent’s meeting had to be deliberate
Carroll said Sir and Trent’s first face-to-face meeting needed to feel calculated, not like a chance run-in. She described them as opposites: Trent believes in justice and law and order, while Sir is an intelligent criminal who operates outside the law. Both have Gabi at the center of their lives, but in very different ways.

“We knew there was no way — the first time Sir and Trent are face-to-face, it felt like it had to be a moment — it couldn’t just be a run-in — it needed to be a calculated moment and that it had sort of cataclysmic consequences.”
That is Carroll’s substantiated explanation of the scene’s intended weight. The meeting is designed to set consequences in motion across the season, not simply to provide a dramatic encounter; the exact outcome of the gunshot, however, is not specified in the interview. TV Insider’s interview with Carroll discusses the confrontation and Dhan’s fate.
