This guide highlights the events with published dates for 2026 and 2027, plus seasonal truffle markets whose calendars need checking. Dates can change; confirm the current program with organizers before booking.
Selections reflect regional character, distinctive food focus, visitor experience and the strength of published date information. They are a curated starting point, not a definitive ranking.
January: Omnivore at Sirha Bake & Snack, Paris
France.fr lists Omnivore in a new format within Sirha Bake & Snack at Paris Porte de Versailles from 18–21 January 2026. The event’s focus is contemporary cuisine, with demonstrations, tastings, talks and food culture. Treat those dates as specific to the 2026 edition, not as a standing annual schedule. France.fr’s food festival guide has the listing.
February: Fête du Citron, Menton
Menton’s citrus festival is listed for 13–28 February 2027. Its program features large citrus displays in the Biovès gardens, daytime and night parades, an artisan market, and an orchid and winter garden show. The official event page reports more than 250,000 visitors per year; that is an organizer-provided annual figure, not a count for the 2027 edition. The page also says the festival entered France’s intangible cultural heritage inventory in 2019, citing the Ministry of Culture. See the official Fête du Citron site for current details.

Winter and spring: Truffle markets in Provence and Périgord
For a food experience built around a regional ingredient rather than a single festival weekend, France.fr points to truffle markets in Carpentras, Richerenches, Lalbenque, Cuzance and Sarlat. Visitors can see buyers and professionals smell, weigh and negotiate over truffles. These markets do not share one confirmed calendar in the available listings, so check the specific market’s organizer before planning a visit. The markets are seasonal events, not five additional dated festivals. France.fr’s truffle-market guide describes them.
May: Taste of Paris
Taste of Paris is listed for 21–24 May 2026 at the Grand Palais. The format brings chefs and dishes prepared on site together with a market of producers and artisans, making it a natural fit for visitors who want tastings and a browse through French food products in one venue. Check the France.fr listing and the event organizer’s current announcement before booking.
June: Lyon Street Food Festival
France.fr’s English-language listing gives 10–14 June 2026; its French-language page gives 11–14 June. Because the official pages conflict by one day, confirm the start date with the festival before arranging travel. The event combines regional and international street food with workshops, recipes, chefs, concerts and DJ sets. It is a broader food-and-music outing than a market focused only on local produce. See the English listing and French listing.
September: Village International de la Gastronomie, Paris
France.fr lists the Village International de la Gastronomie for 10–13 September 2026. Its program centers French regional products alongside cuisines from more than 60 countries, with tastings, demonstrations, workshops, performances and music. It suits visitors looking for a wide range of culinary traditions in one event rather than a single-region food showcase. Check the France.fr event guide for the listing and confirm details with the organizers.

Les Étoiles de Mougins
France.fr describes this biennial festival as featuring cooking demonstrations and courses, competitions, talks with Michelin-starred chefs and an open-air restaurant. The guide indicates a September 2026 edition but does not give exact dates. Verify that the edition and schedule are confirmed before building an itinerary around it. See France.fr’s listing.
October: Four events, from regional cuisine to harvest celebrations
Lille Street Food Festival
The listed dates are 1–4 October 2026, but France.fr’s French page notes that they were subject to confirmation. At EuraTechnologies, the event brings together street food, regional specialties, food trucks, local brewers, mixologists and music. Confirm the dates with the organizers before booking. Listings appear in the English food festival guide and French guide.
Rank #4
Salon de la gastronomie des Outre-mer et des cuisines du monde, Paris
France.fr’s French guide lists this event for 2–4 October 2026 in the Bois de Vincennes. It focuses on foods and traditions from France’s overseas territories. Check the organizer’s current information for confirmation of dates, venue and program. France.fr’s French guide has the listing.
Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre, Paris
Listed for 7–11 October 2026, this annual Montmartre harvest celebration includes vineyard visits, picnics, exhibitions, concerts and participatory parades. France.fr says the event has been held annually since 1934. Food and wine sit within a wider neighborhood festival, so expect cultural programming as well as harvest-themed activities. See France.fr’s Montmartre festival guide for the listing.

Le Grand Repas
France.fr lists 8 October 2026 for this nationwide event. Participating regions serve a menu created by a local chef using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Availability depends on local participation, so check with the organizers or participating venue for the location and meal arrangements. The event appears in the France.fr food festival guide and its French-language counterpart.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose an event for your trip
- Choose by food focus: street food and international dishes feature in Lyon and Lille; Taste of Paris centers chefs and producers; truffle markets are ingredient-led; and Montmartre and Le Grand Repas connect food with local harvest or regional cooking.
- Compare the experience: Look for the activities that matter to you—tastings, demonstrations, workshops, markets, performances or a sit-down meal. The event descriptions vary in how much program detail they provide.
- Plan around the date, not just the month: A published listing is not a guarantee that dates will remain unchanged. The Lyon listings conflict by a day, Lille’s dates were marked subject to confirmation, and Mougins’s exact dates are not given in the guide.
- Check the regional fit: Paris has several listed events, while Lyon, Lille, Menton and Mougins offer reasons to plan beyond the capital. Truffle markets require checking the schedule for the particular town.
- Do not infer a complete national calendar: France.fr describes harvest season as progressing from southern vineyards in late August toward other regions over roughly three months, but that is not a fixed festival timetable. See its guide to grape harvest timing and confirm the local dates for any harvest event.
The listings do not provide consistent ticket prices, access details or comparable attendance figures across these events, so there is no sound basis for a numerical ranking. Use the food focus, published schedule and program description to choose, then verify practical details directly with the organizer.
