What led to the tour announcement?
Foo Fighters played a one-off concert in Launceston in January 2026 before the larger tour was announced the following month. ABC News reported that Dave Grohl told the crowd the band would be back sooner than they thought. At the Launceston show, Grohl also said: “We might have a whole new record of f***ing songs that we just finished the other day.” That quote, reported by ABC News on 18 February 2026, does not establish an album release date or confirm what the tour setlist will include.
The NSW Government confirmed the 12 November Newcastle show at McDonald Jones Stadium and described it as the band’s first Newcastle visit. Tourism Minister Steve Kamper said: “Foo Fighters are one of the world’s biggest bands who will transform Foocastle and bring the Hunter to life.” The quote is promotional language from the government announcement, not an independent assessment.

Who is in the touring lineup?
Frontier Touring names the current Foo Fighters lineup as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Ilan Rubin.
The promoter also says the band has sold over 1.8 million records in Australia and had nine number-one albums there, which it describes as more than in any other territory. These are figures published by Frontier Touring.
