Its story supports a compelling idea: success is earned through ambition and self-belief. Flo Milli has described cultivating those qualities herself—but that personal account is not proof that any one practice or remix caused the song’s success.
How the remix fit into Flo Milli’s album release
Flo Milli released Fine Ho, Stay through RCA Records on March 15, 2024, sharing a new version of “Never Lose Me” featuring SZA and Cardi B in connection with the album. Apple Music lists the track on the album with that date and identifies all three artists as vocal performers. RCA Records’ announcement and Apple Music’s album listing document the release.
The remix was not the song’s first alternate version. Apple Music also lists versions featuring Lil Yachty and Bryson Tiller from December 2023. That sequence places the SZA and Cardi B collaboration within an evolving set of versions, rather than making it the song’s starting point. The listings establish release order, not which version listeners preferred or performed best.
What the collaborators’ credits show
Apple Music credits Flo Milli, SZA, and Cardi B as vocal performers on the remix. Its listing also names 42 Dugg, Babyface Ray, and Jin Kirigaya among the sampled artists, and gives songwriting credits to Tamia Carter, Marcellus Rayvon Register, Dion Hayes, Hitoshi Kirigaya, Gerald Henry, Belcalis Almanzar, Gerreaux Katana, and Solana Rowe. These are the credits as presented in Apple Music’s catalog, not an independent audit of rights or contributions.

The credits make clear that the track sits within a broader network of performers and creators. They do not, by themselves, explain how the song found its audience; the available release materials and interview do not establish a particular collaborator’s effect on its performance.
Flo Milli’s account of ambition
In an interview with the Associated Press, Flo Milli described writing down what she wanted to become when she was younger and repeating those ambitions to herself. She said, “The power of the tongue, period; I’ve always been taught that is very powerful.” Her words offer a direct account of how she approached her aspirations, rather than an outside theory imposed on her career.

AP journalist Gary Gerard Hamilton also described Fine Ho, Stay as moving between assertive rap and more vulnerable material. That contrast gives context to an album-era release built around a bold, confident song: the album’s presentation is not limited to one posture or mood. Flo Milli’s testimony makes “success is earned” a meaningful interpretation of her outlook, but it cannot establish that affirmations—or this remix—caused commercial results.

In its March 15, 2024 announcement, RCA described the original “Never Lose Me” single as “RIAA certified platinum.” That is a label-reported milestone about the original single, stated by RCA in connection with the album release. The announcement does not say that the SZA and Cardi B remix earned the certification, nor does it establish a separate certification date. It is evidence of a milestone, not proof that the remix caused it.

Read together, the release sequence, credits, and Flo Milli’s own account support a grounded version of the title’s argument: her ambition and self-belief are part of how she describes her path, while the remix brought SZA and Cardi B into the song’s album-era presentation. The evidence does not support a stronger causal claim about why the track succeeded.
