If a YouTube Live stream buffers on a slow broadband connection, open the player’s Settings → Quality and try 240p or 360p. If it still buffers, compare playback on another connection or device, then follow the checks below for your device. “Promo loop” could mean the live content is repeating, a loading animation is stuck, or an advertisement is repeating; YouTube’s published help does not identify a cause specific to that phrase or to India.
First, lower playback quality
- Open the YouTube Live player’s settings. Select Settings → Quality.
- Choose 240p or 360p, the resolutions YouTube suggests trying on a slow connection. If neither is watchable, select a lower available option.
- Let the stream play long enough to see whether the change helps. YouTube can also adjust quality automatically; connection speed is one factor, alongside screen size, the original video’s quality, and browser support. YouTube’s slow-connection guidance and its video quality help explain these controls.
Changing playback quality affects what you watch; it does not change the broadcaster’s stream settings or increase the speed of your broadband plan.
Try the check that fits your device
On a computer: pause briefly to let the buffer fill
Start the stream, pause it, and wait for some of the gray progress bar to fill before resuming. YouTube describes this as a tip for slow connections on computer playback. It may help playback catch up, but it does not increase connection capacity.
On a phone or tablet: compare connections
If you are using mobile data, try Wi-Fi; if you are using Wi-Fi, try mobile data if available. Mobile data charges may apply. If you use the YouTube app on Android, YouTube also lists clearing the app cache as a troubleshooting step. Use YouTube’s troubleshooting guide for its current device-specific steps.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
On a TV: test the wireless connection and app
- Try playback closer to the router to see whether distance or obstacles are affecting Wi-Fi.
- Reduce nearby wireless interference and, if practical, pause other devices using the network while testing.
- Manually lower playback quality in the YouTube player. YouTube separately recommends at least 7 Mbps for HD streaming on TV; this is a support recommendation, not a guarantee that a live stream will play without interruptions.
- Reopen the YouTube app, restart the TV or streaming device, and check for system updates.
If the TV or computer is on Wi-Fi and can be connected near the router, Ethernet is an optional way to test whether the wireless link is part of the problem. YouTube recommends Ethernet for live streaming from a computer, but that advice concerns broadcasting; a cable does not raise the speed supplied by a slow broadband plan or guarantee a fix for viewer-side buffering. YouTube’s live filming tips describe the broadcaster recommendation.
Use speed tests as clues, not a diagnosis
Run a speed test near the device where you are watching, then compare the result with YouTube’s approximate sustained-speed recommendations for the resolution you selected. A result close to or below the relevant recommendation is a reason to try lower quality; it does not establish why this particular stream is buffering. A single speed test also may not reflect changing network conditions while you watch.

YouTube publishes approximate speed guidance for several resolutions, but does not present those figures as a promise of uninterrupted live playback. Its 7 Mbps TV HD recommendation is a separate figure, not a substitute for the resolution-specific guidance. The consulted help pages do not state publication dates. See YouTube’s system requirements and supported devices and its streaming troubleshooting guidance.
Check whether the issue is the stream or the connection
- Try the same live stream at 240p or 360p. If it becomes watchable, playback quality may have been too demanding for the available connection at that moment.
- Try another connection or device, if available. If playback changes, that comparison can help narrow the issue to the connection, device, or app; it does not prove a single cause.
- Check whether other video services buffer too. If they do, the issue may extend beyond this YouTube stream. If only this stream is affected, that still does not prove a YouTube defect, broadcaster problem, advertisement issue, or regional outage.
These are diagnostic comparisons, not evidence of an India-specific broadband or YouTube problem. YouTube’s cited help material does not establish an India-only buffering rate or a cause specific to “promo loop.”

If you control the broadcast, check latency settings
This section applies only if you manage the live stream; most viewers cannot change broadcast latency. YouTube warns that lower latency can mean more playback buffering. If you control a TV Primetime Channels broadcast-delay setting, YouTube says Default minimizes playback interruptions. Do not change a broadcaster setting as a viewer-side fix. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance and its TV troubleshooting guidance.
When buffering continues
Before sending playback feedback through the YouTube app, note the device, app or browser, connection type, speed-test result, selected quality, and whether other services buffer too. Those details make it easier to describe what you observed without assuming a cause.
