If YouTube keeps restarting the same video, check whether you have enabled repeat for the current video instead of looping the whole playlist. On a computer, use the Loop control in the expanded playlist box; on Android, check that Loop has not switched to the single-video state; on a TV or game console, select “Repeat • Playlist.” Autoplay is a separate setting and does not loop a playlist.
First check what is playing
The right fix depends on whether you are watching a playlist, a standalone video, an actual live broadcast, or a replay of a finished stream. YouTube has separate controls for repeating one video and repeating an entire playlist. If the same item starts again, look at the repeat scope shown in the player rather than changing Autoplay.
- Playlist: Use the playlist’s Loop or Repeat control and confirm it applies to the playlist.
- Standalone video: A video-level Loop setting repeats that video, not a playlist.
- Live broadcast: Live-stream playback and DVR controls are not playlist-loop controls.
- Replay: Once a finished stream is available as a replay video, ordinary playlist controls apply if it is playing within a playlist.
Loop the whole playlist on a computer
- Open a video from the playlist you want to watch.
- Expand the playlist in the panel on the right.
- Click the Loop control in the playlist box. YouTube says this repeats the playlist continuously.
Do not confuse this with right-clicking a video and choosing Loop: that action repeats the current video. YouTube documents both controls, but only the playlist-box control loops the playlist. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube
Check the repeat state on Android
- Start playing the playlist.
- Open the playlist control box and tap Loop.
- Check the icon after tapping. Tapping Loop a second time switches to repeating only the current video; a “1” appears on the control.
- If the “1” is showing and you want the playlist to continue to its next item, tap the control to leave the single-video repeat state.

Set playlist repeat on a TV or game console
- Start the playlist and open the playback controls.
- Select Repeat until the state reads “Repeat • Playlist.”
- If it reads “Repeat • Currently playing,” change the state: that setting repeats one video.
The displayed repeat scope is the key distinction: choose Playlist rather than Currently playing. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube
Why Autoplay does not fix a playlist loop
Autoplay plays another related video after the current video ends. It is not the control for moving through and repeating a specific playlist. To loop your chosen playlist, use its Loop control. Autoplay settings can also differ from one device to another. YouTube Help: Autoplay videos

If the video is a live stream or replay
While the broadcast is live
A live broadcast is not an ordinary playlist video. YouTube’s DVR feature lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream; DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. That limitation concerns live playback, not a playlist cycling back to its first item. YouTube Help: Use Live Chat
If an actual live broadcast unexpectedly restarts, the available YouTube guidance cited here does not identify a specific repair for that symptom. Do not assume a playlist repeat setting is responsible.

After the stream ends
A channel may publish highlights or a replay after a live stream. YouTube describes these as videos on the channel. If you are watching a replay inside a playlist, use the playlist Loop control described above; the replay is then playing as a video, not as a live broadcast. Troubleshoot a playlist that still restarts
- The same video repeats and the control shows “1”: The current-video repeat mode is selected. Switch it back to playlist repeat.
- The playlist ends and a related video starts: That is Autoplay behavior. Use the playlist Loop control if you want the same playlist to start again.
- The player says “Repeat • Currently playing”: On a TV or game console, change Repeat to “Repeat • Playlist.”
- You are using an iPhone or iPad: Find the playlist’s Loop control, but note that the device-specific steps in the cited guidance cover Android, not iOS. Exact iOS navigation is not established here.
- The video is embedded or the app behaves differently: The documented steps cover standard YouTube playback, not every app version, account configuration, or embedded player. Check the repeat state visible in your player; an unusual recurrence may require details such as device, operating system, app version, and whether the video is live or a replay.
