How to read this list
These are five notable Hibs connections documented by the Hibernian Community Foundation, the club’s official charity. Its profiles include first-person statements from Scott, Welsh, Stott and Gray, and describe the Proclaimers’ history with the club. This is an editorial selection, not an exhaustive ranking or an independent survey of famous supporters.
Five famous Hibs supporters and club figures
Dougray Scott
The Scottish actor and producer is described by the Foundation as “a lifelong and passionate Hibee” who visits Easter Road as often as he can. Scott’s own words are direct: “I’ve been a lifelong Hibee and have always been proud of our Club for many reasons.” The Foundation’s ambassador profile also identifies him as an Emmy- and BAFTA-winning actor and producer.
Irvine Welsh
Edinburgh-born author Irvine Welsh’s connection is captured in a short statement published by the Foundation: “Leith and Hibs are in my DNA and I love them both.” The Foundation identifies Welsh as a Hibs supporter and ambassador. His ambassador profile places his affection for the club alongside his connection to Leith.

Grant Stott
Radio and television presenter Grant Stott says he has followed Hibs since childhood: “I have followed the Hibs since I was a child and am as proud of Our Club as I am of our City.” The Foundation describes him as a Hibee who supports the club at Easter Road with his father. The Foundation profile provides both the description and his statement.
Craig and Charlie Reid, The Proclaimers
The Foundation documents a longstanding connection between the Reid brothers and Hibernian, including integral roles in the Hands Off Hibs campaign in the 1990s. Their song “Sunshine on Leith” is also closely associated with Hibs supporter culture. The Foundation’s account supports describing the brothers as Hibs supporters with a substantial campaign and cultural connection; it does not include a first-person quotation from either brother. The Foundation’s Proclaimers profile sets out that history.

David Gray
David Gray is the least conventional celebrity-fan entry: he is not simply a well-known person who supports the club, but a central figure in Hibernian’s recent history. The Foundation notes that he captained Hibs, scored the stoppage-time header that won the 2016 Scottish Cup, and later continued with the club’s coaching team. Gray said: “I’ve been at Hibs for 9 great years and the transformation in Our Club’s Charity, the Hibernian Community Foundation, in that time has been remarkable.” The Foundation includes him among its well-known followers and ambassadors, so he fits as a famous club figure and supporter rather than an outside celebrity fan. His Foundation profile gives the career context and quotation.

Hibernian was formed on 6 August 1875 by Irish men who had emigrated to Scotland. The club developed into one followed across Edinburgh and beyond. Its history includes three league titles between 1948 and 1952 and the 2016 Scottish Cup final victory over Rangers, which ended a 114-year wait for another win in the competition. The Hibernian Community Foundation’s club history records those milestones.
