Five famous faces have been reported as Preston North End supporters, but the evidence varies: Liam Neeson has the clearest reported first-person confirmation, while Cody Rhodes’s connection is explicitly described as only “somewhat” supportive. The names come from a 2025 feature, not five independently verified interviews.
How strong is the evidence?
The five names below appear in Jack Tucker’s 25 June 2025 Vital Football feature on Preston North End’s famous supporters. It combines a reported direct answer, descriptions of public support and a qualified connection; it does not offer the same kind of confirmation for everyone.
| Person | What the feature reports | Evidence type |
|---|---|---|
| Liam Neeson | Answered “I am!” when asked if he was a Preston fan. | Reported direct affirmation |
| Ryan Brierley | Described as a vocal, long-running supporter. | Reporter’s description |
| Wade Barrett | Described as promoting Preston publicly and training with the team. | Reporter’s description of public activity |
| Freddie Flintoff | Described as expressing affection for the club, attending matches and appearing in a season-ticket promotion. | Reporter’s description of support and activity |
| Cody Rhodes | Reportedly said Wade Barrett had made him “somewhat” a Preston fan. | Qualified, Barrett-mediated connection |
The five famous faces
Liam Neeson: the clearest reported confirmation
The feature says Spud Bros’ Harley asked Neeson whether he was a Preston fan in TikTok footage, and Neeson replied, “I am!” That is the clearest direct affirmation among the five. The same report says he was presented with the 2025–26 green goalkeeper shirt carrying the Spud Bros logo. The exchange is attributed to Spud Bros/TikTok by the feature; its wording should be understood as a report of the footage, not as an independently checked transcript.
Ryan Brierley: described as a vocal supporter
The rugby league player is described as a “huge Preston North End fan” who is often vocal on social media for the club. The feature also connects him to Preston by birth and says he spent formative years watching the team. These are the article’s characterizations; it does not reproduce a first-person confirmation from Brierley.

Wade Barrett: public promotion and a club connection
The former WWE wrestler and commentator is described as promoting Preston in broadcasts and press opportunities. The feature also points to club-channel footage of him training with the team as early as 2013, and says he persuaded fellow commentator Michael Cole to represent the club. These details are reported by the feature rather than independently verified here.
Freddie Flintoff: reported supporter and match attendee
The former England cricketer and presenter is described as having declared his love for Preston, attending matches with his son and lending his voice to the club’s 2022–23 season-ticket promotion. A separate 2024 interview with a Preston fanzine editor names Flintoff as a likely celebrity fan for a hypothetical Preston FA Cup final; that is the editor’s opinion, not Flintoff’s own statement. The Guardian’s 2024 interview provides that fan perspective.

Cody Rhodes: a qualified connection
The feature reports that Rhodes told BBC Radio 5 Wade Barrett had made him “somewhat” a Preston fan, and notes photographs of Rhodes wearing a Preston shirt. That wording matters: it presents Rhodes as a newer, Barrett-mediated convert, not as a lifelong or unequivocally committed supporter.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the list does—and does not—establish
Neeson’s reported “I am!” is the strongest direct statement in the feature. Brierley, Barrett and Flintoff are presented through descriptions of supporter identity or activity; Rhodes’s link is expressly qualified. The feature therefore supports calling all five reported Preston-connected supporters, but it does not show that each person personally confirmed their support in an interview or establish a shared standard for what counts as a supporter. The 2024 fanzine interview adds context about Flintoff’s reputation among fans, not independent proof of his own words.
