Fishbone listed “Racist Piece of Shit” as a single on November 1, 2024, and later included it as track 9 on the band’s 2025 album Stockholm Syndrome. Chris Dowd said he wrote the song; Angelo Moore described its target as Donald Trump and several members of Trump’s cabinet.
When did Fishbone release “Racist Piece of Shit”?
Apple Music lists the single as released November 1, 2024. Fishbone’s Bandcamp page for Stockholm Syndrome dates the album June 27, 2025, and places the 2:45 song at track 9. Those are two separate catalog dates; the sources do not explain the interval between them.
Who wrote the song, and who is it about?
In a 2025 interview, Fishbone member Chris Dowd corrected an interviewer’s description of the writing credit: “I wrote that, I didn’t co-write it.” Angelo Moore said the song’s title described Trump and several people in his cabinet. These are the musicians’ own descriptions of the song’s authorship and political target.
Why did Fishbone use a lyric video?
Dowd said the band chose a lyric video because the words were central to the song. He explained that placing them over election-related headlines connected the lyrics to the election and the person on the ballot. The format foregrounds the political message rather than relying on a narrative or performance-led video.

Which album and formats include the track?
The track appears on Stockholm Syndrome, which Fishbone’s Bandcamp page offers as a digital album download and identifies as having a vinyl edition. That page establishes the album formats, but does not establish current availability through any other retailer or give vinyl pressing, variant, or sound-quality details.
Dowd has also described Fishbone’s musical identity as spanning styles: “From ska to funk to reggae to rock… the goal was always to be Fishbone and when you hear any style we come with, the audience will always say it’s a Fishbone song.”
