Fiona Harvey appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on 9 May 2024, saying she had been identified online as the inspiration for Martha in Netflix’s Baby Reindeer and denying that she stalked Richard Gadd. The interview was a separate program episode, not part of the series, and it did not establish what happened in the disputed events.
When the interview aired—and what it was
Apple Podcasts lists the episode as “World Exclusive: Baby Reindeer’s ‘Real’ Martha Fiona Harvey”, hosted by Piers Morgan and published on 9 May 2024 at 21:35 UTC. The listing gives it a duration of 57 minutes. The Los Angeles Times described the interview segment as 56 minutes, a difference between published descriptions rather than evidence of a different event.
Baby Reindeer is a seven-episode Netflix miniseries. Jessica Gunning plays Martha, while Gadd plays Donny, a fictionalized counterpart. Morgan’s interview was a separate online program and podcast episode, not an installment or special episode of the Netflix series. What Harvey said
Harvey said internet users had identified her as the basis for Martha and that she wanted to set the record straight. She denied stalking Gadd and disputed the show’s portrayal of events. Those are Harvey’s statements; the interview itself does not independently verify them or settle the underlying dispute.

The episode’s title calls her “‘Real’ Martha,” but that label should not be read as proof that Harvey and the fictional character are the same person. Gadd later stated in a court declaration, as quoted by TVLine, “Martha Scott is not Fiona Harvey.” That is Gadd’s position, not a court’s finding.
The communication figures discussed in the interview
The Independent reported that Morgan challenged Harvey with figures attributed to Gadd: 41,071 emails, 744 tweets, 46 Facebook messages, 106 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemail. These are figures Gadd claimed, as reported in the interview coverage; they are not independently verified counts. The Independent also reported that Harvey said she sent “less than 10” emails and later said she felt “used” by the interview’s rapid questioning. The Independent’s account describes the exchange.

What Gadd and Netflix said afterward
In a declaration filed in the case brought by Harvey, Gadd described the series as “emotionally true” but fictionalized, and said it was not intended as a beat-by-beat account. TVLine quoted him calling it “a dramatic work” and stating, “Martha Scott is not Fiona Harvey.” These statements record Gadd’s account of his creative intent and the character; they are not judicial determinations. TVLine reported on the declaration.

In June 2024, Harvey sued Netflix in federal court in Los Angeles, alleging defamation and other claims and seeking at least $170 million, according to the Associated Press. The amount was what she requested in her complaint, not an award. Netflix said, “We intend to defend this matter vigorously and to stand by Richard Gadd’s right to tell his story.” The AP report covers the filing and Netflix’s response here.
