Fernando Cabral de Mello was named CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Brazil in an announcement by Sony Music Latin Iberia on March 27, 2025. The new structure placed Sony Music Brasil, Som Livre and the CTS EVENTIM joint venture under a unified group-level remit, while Sony said the business units would continue operating independently.
What Sony announced
Sony Music Latin Iberia described a new structure for its Brazilian operations, with Cabral de Mello leading Sony Music Entertainment Brazil. The group-level role covers Sony Music Brasil and Som Livre and oversees the CTS EVENTIM joint venture. Sony characterized the change as a unified structure—not as a merger of the underlying businesses—and said the units would retain independent operations. Sony Music’s March 27, 2025 announcement is the primary source for the appointment and organizational design.
What the CEO role entails
Sony said Cabral de Mello would drive the overall strategy, streamline operations and bring together the resources and expertise of the businesses within the structure. He reports to Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Latin Iberia. In the announcement, Verde said, “Fernando is a proven leader with a deep understanding of this amazing country.”
Cabral de Mello’s background
Sony’s announcement described Cabral de Mello as having more than 25 years of experience in the music industry at the time of his appointment. The company said he joined Sony Music in 2005 and had most recently served as Executive Vice President, Business Development for Latin Iberia.

How the labels’ leadership was arranged
In an April 14, 2025 report, trade publication Mundo da Música said Tatiana Cantinho and Cristiane Simões were appointed Senior Vice-Presidents and Label Heads of Som Livre and Sony Music Brasil, respectively, and would report directly to Cabral de Mello. What the announcement does—and does not—establish
