Fender’s American Professional Classic line pairs vintage-inspired styling and hardware with contemporary neck specifications across four solid-body guitars: Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster and Jaguar. Their main differences are practical and easy to compare: pickup and control layouts, bridge hardware and scale length. Fender lists a Modern “C” neck, a 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and medium-jumbo frets for all four; the Jaguar has a shorter 24-inch scale, while the Stratocaster, Telecaster and Jazzmaster use a 25.5-inch scale.
What the American Professional Classic models share
Fender presents the series as a blend of vintage-inspired looks and hardware with contemporary neck specifications. The manufacturer lists a Modern “C” neck, 9.5-inch fingerboard radius and medium-jumbo frets on the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster and Jaguar. These are specifications, not independent assessments of playing comfort or sound.
All four come with a Fender Deluxe Gig Bag, according to their product pages. The recommended family hard-shell cases are separate accessories. Fender lists USA 250L nickel-plated steel strings in .009–.042 gauges and setup-tool sizes in the specifications; those details do not, by themselves, mean a buyer needs replacement strings or setup work immediately.
How the four guitars differ
| Model | Pickups and controls | Bridge and scale | Useful distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stratocaster | Coastline ’57 single-coils, five-position blade switch and Greasebucket tone circuit on the bridge pickup. | Six-saddle vintage-style synchronized tremolo; 25.5-inch scale. | Three-pickup layout with a synchronized tremolo. |
| Telecaster | Coastline ’63 single-coils, three-position selector, master volume and master tone. | Three-saddle vintage-style strings-through-body bridge with brass barrel saddles; 25.5-inch scale. | Two-pickup layout and a fixed bridge format, unlike the tremolo-equipped models. |
| Jazzmaster | Coastline ’65 Jazzmaster pickups. | Vintage-style floating tremolo; 25.5-inch scale. | Offset body paired with its own pickup set and floating-tremolo arrangement. |
| Jaguar | Coastline ’65 Jaguar pickups and a two-position Strangle circuit. | Jaguar bridge with Mustang saddles and floating tremolo; 24-inch scale. | Shorter listed scale and distinct circuit make it the most clearly different specification-wise from the 25.5-inch models. |
Fender names each pickup set for its model and year, but those names alone do not establish how the guitars sound relative to one another. Without disclosed listening tests, the most grounded comparison is the pickup design and control layout.

Which model fits the comparison you have in mind?
Stratocaster vs Telecaster
Both have Fender-listed 25.5-inch scales, but their layouts and bridges differ. The Stratocaster has three pickups, a five-position blade and synchronized tremolo; the Telecaster has two pickups, a three-position selector and a three-saddle fixed bridge. Choose between those configurations rather than assuming one pickup name guarantees a particular sound.
Jazzmaster vs Jaguar
Both are offset models with floating tremolos, but the Jaguar has the shorter 24-inch scale, Mustang saddles on its Jaguar bridge and a two-position Strangle circuit. Fender lists the Jazzmaster at 25.5 inches and identifies its vintage-style floating tremolo. These are concrete hardware and specification differences; comfort and tonal preference are personal and are not established by the product specifications.

American Professional Classic vs a vintage Fender
The series is described by Fender as vintage-inspired, but the listed contemporary neck specifications—Modern “C,” 9.5-inch radius and medium-jumbo frets—are the useful points of contrast here. The available product information does not support a comprehensive model-by-model comparison with particular vintage instruments, so check the specifications of the specific vintage guitar under consideration rather than inferring equivalence from styling or model names.

Fender’s 2026 announcement also lists replacement necks for the series: maple and rosewood options for Stratocaster and Telecaster, and rosewood for Jazzmaster and Jaguar. An announcement establishes that these replacement-neck products were announced; it does not confirm current stock or compatibility with every instrument.
