Barry Horowitz, Barry Darsow, Iron Mike Sharpe and the Brooklyn Brawler each became familiar to fans in that role, but the available updates vary in age and detail. Sharpe has died; the other profiles below distinguish documented later-life information from older snapshots.
What did “jobber” mean in WWE?
“Jobber” is a fan term for a wrestler who commonly loses matches, often to make an opponent look stronger. WWE has also used the term “journeyman” for performers in this position. The label describes a booking role, not a measure of ability: Barry Horowitz, in a WWE profile, preferred “enhancer” and argued that the dismissive stereotype did not fit him. WWE’s retrospective highlights Horowitz and the Brooklyn Brawler among its journeymen, but it does not establish an exhaustive roster.
Barry Horowitz: a 2008 snapshot, not a current update
WWE reported in 2008 that Horowitz began wrestling after training with Boris Malenko and joined the promotion in 1981. Its profile recounts his late-1980s return, a neck injury and a later career highlight: defeating Bodydonna Skip in 1995. WWE described him then as semi-retired, focused on family and a sports-nutrition business called Vitamin Discount Center, while still making independent appearances and attending autograph signings. Those are details from the 2008 profile, not confirmation of his activities in 2026. Read WWE’s 2008 profile.
Horowitz challenged the assumption that a wrestler in that role lacked commitment. In WWE’s account, he said: “A ‘jobber’, if you want to use that word, is a guy who is only in it for a buck, he goes to the gym every now and then, doesn’t have the ring gear, doesn’t know the business that well.” He then made clear he did not see himself that way: he knew the business and understood his position in it.

Barry Darsow: Smash and the many faces of a wrestling career
Barry Darsow is widely associated with Smash, one half of Demolition. WWE’s retrospective also identifies his characters as Krusher Khruschev, the Repo Man and the Blacktop Bully. WWE credited Demolition with a 16-month run as World Tag Team Champions. Its profile recounts Darsow’s later WCW period and subsequent interests in business, family and golf; it is an archival account, not a fresh check of his present-day life. Read WWE’s profile of Smash.
His memoir and a dated appearance update
Darsow’s memoir, Sickles, Studs & Stolen Cars: The Many Faces of Barry Darsow, was published by Titan Insider Press in October 2025. His official shop describes it as a paperback of approximately 311 pages and links to an Amazon listing; format and availability can change. See the Ax and Smash shop.

In a 2025 interview about the book, Darsow said he was going out with Bill Eadie for autograph signings two or three weekends a month. That was his schedule as described in the interview, not a guarantee of his current appearance calendar. Read the 2025 interview.
Iron Mike Sharpe: WWE reported his death
WWE’s obituary says Michael “Iron” Mike Sharpe died at age 64. It also reports that after retiring he operated a wrestling school in Brick, New Jersey. The obituary’s available account does not establish a specific death year, so one should not be inferred from it. Read WWE’s obituary.

Brooklyn Brawler: a recognized journeyman, with no confirmed current update
WWE’s “Unsung Heroes” retrospective names the Brooklyn Brawler among its notable journeymen, confirming his place in the company’s history. The available source does not establish his current work, residence or activities, so a more specific “where is he now?” answer cannot be confirmed here. Read WWE’s journeymen retrospective.

The profiles do not offer equally recent or equally detailed updates. Horowitz’s family, business and independent appearances come from a 2008 WWE article; Darsow’s WWE profile is also archival, while the appearance schedule comes from a 2025 interview. WWE’s Sharpe obituary establishes his death and post-retirement wrestling school, and the Brooklyn Brawler retrospective establishes his historical role rather than his current activities. Treating those snapshots as if they were all present-day biographies would overstate what they confirm.
