One headline detail needs a correction: its “Radio” menu plays songs stored on an SD card; Sharma says it is not a radio tuner. The project is a fan build, not Bethesda’s official Pip-Boy replica.
What is the PipBoy AR Mark 6000?
The PipBoy AR Mark 6000 is a scratch-built wearable computer created by maker Arnov Sharma. Sharma describes it as his own design rather than a direct copy of one specific Pip-Boy. Its strongest visual inspiration is the Pip-Boy 3000 from Fallout: New Vegas. The project pages document the build on Hackaday.io and Hackster.io.
“Fully functional” here means that the custom device runs an interactive interface and several working features. It does not mean that it reproduces every capability of a game Pip-Boy or receives Fallout broadcast stations.
How does the fan-made Pip-Boy work?
Touchscreen hardware and custom case
The main electronics are a Waveshare ESP32-P4-WIFI6 Touch LCD 4.3-inch development board. Sharma identifies its 4.3-inch, 480 × 800 capacitive touchscreen as a suitable base for the interface. The project description also reports an ESP32-C6 wireless coprocessor for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. These are the board and capabilities Sharma describes; the project pages do not provide independent performance testing.

The case is custom 3D printed. It opens on a hinge and closes around the wrist with hand-tightened bolts. The listed build materials include printed parts, two rolls of Hyper PLA, threaded inserts, screws, filler, sandpaper, primer and spray paint.
Menus and features
The interface adapts familiar Fallout concepts into features that Sharma says are implemented on the device:

Does it play Fallout’s iconic radio stations?
No broadcast-radio reception is documented for the Mark 6000. Sharma is explicit about the menu label: “Then we have the Radio menu, although technically, it’s not a radio. It’s a music player.” Songs are stored on an SD card, and the player supports play, pause, track skipping and volume control.
That makes the feature a locally stored music player—not an FM tuner and not a receiver for Fallout’s in-game stations. The project walkthrough does not establish that the device streams music or tunes into radio broadcasts.

How is it different from Bethesda’s official Pip-Boy replica?
The Mark 6000 and Bethesda’s Pip-Boy 3000 Replica are separate devices with different origins and functions. Bethesda developed its replica with The Wand Company and describes it as a product with a built-in FM tuner and headphone port. Its product page referred to a presale and estimated shipping would begin in June 2026; that dated estimate does not confirm current availability. See Bethesda’s product page.

What is known—and not known—about the build?
The project lists a 3.7V, 2000mAh lithium-ion cell, but does not report a measured battery runtime. The cited build pages also do not establish the finished device’s weight, a complete current build cost, independent performance results, or current parts availability. The described functions and operating details are the creator’s account.
