In professional wrestling, being billed as brothers can be part of a team’s story rather than a statement about the performers’ family trees. The key distinction is between what a promotion says on screen and what reliable biographical sources establish off screen. The available material for WhatCulture’s 2019 quiz confirms its premise and names The Young Bucks as its first entry, but does not substantiate the full roster of 20 teams. Naming the other teams—or asserting that any of them were unrelated—without verification would risk turning a trivia premise into misinformation.
What “brothers” can mean in a wrestling storyline
Tag teams may be presented as siblings to give their partnership a backstory, a shared identity, or a built-in source of conflict. That on-screen relationship is not, by itself, evidence that the performers are biological or legal relatives. A sound account keeps the storyline claim separate from the real-life relationship and identifies the promotion and era involved.
The Dudley Boyz show the distinction
What WWE’s profile says
WWE’s Dudley Boyz profile describes a fictional family around Bubba Ray and D-Von, including D-Von as a new brother and Spike Dudley as their little brother. That is evidence of how WWE presented the characters, not proof that the performers were related in real life.
What D-Von said about their bond
In a Barclays Center interview published December 28, 2015, D-Von said, “Well, we know each other like we’re brothers, brothers from different mothers.” He was describing the team’s closeness and familiarity, not documenting a literal family relationship. Read the interview.

What can be confirmed about the “20”
WhatCulture’s June 11, 2019 quiz is described as featuring 20 teams called brothers on screen, and its first entry is The Young Bucks. The available page material does not establish the remaining names or provide an answer key. The number 20 is therefore the quiz’s stated scope, not an independently verified count of unrelated wrestling teams. View the quiz.
A separate professional-wrestling family-relations reference illustrates why the categories need care: it lists Espanto II as a kayfabe brother of Espanto I and Espanto III. That tertiary listing alone is not strong enough to establish the specific example as fact, so it should not be treated as definitive without confirmation from stronger sources. See the reference.

How to judge a claimed wrestling-family connection
- Identify the storyline claim. Look for a promotion profile, broadcast, or contemporary account that establishes how the team was billed, along with the promotion and era.
- Check the real-life relationship separately. Use reliable biographies, firsthand interviews, or other strong sources that directly address whether the performers were related.
- Do not treat closeness as kinship. A wrestler calling a partner a brother may be describing affection, trust, or years of working together.
- Keep uncertainty visible. If sources establish the on-screen relationship but not the family facts, say so rather than presenting “unrelated” as settled.
