In a March 2022 interview, Anuel and Yailin described a relationship built on feeling comfortable together, recounted how an Instagram exchange brought them closer, and talked about marriage and family. They were engaged then; they married in June 2022 and later separated and divorced, according to subsequent People en Español reports.
What the exclusive interview captured
Published by People en Español on March 8, 2022, the feature by Karla Montalván, with photography credited to Omar Cruz, invited readers into the couple’s Miami home. Anuel and Yailin were engaged and discussing a wedding. The article said they had made their engagement official in a social-media video in January 2022. Its ages—29 for Anuel and 19 for Yailin—refer to the time of publication, not their ages today. Read the March 2022 feature.

How they said their romance began
In their recollections to the magazine, Yailin said she first sent Anuel a heart on Instagram; Anuel said he reached out after seeing her message. Those are the couple’s accounts of how they connected, not independently verified details.
What they valued about being together
The interview presented their closeness in terms of ease and mutual comfort. Yailin said, “We are us, the same person in different bodies,” and added, “I love our relationship because we are ourselves.” Anuel described her as someone who “gives me peace, gives me happiness.” These quotations reflect how they spoke about the relationship in 2022.

The wedding and family plans they discussed
At the time of the interview, the couple talked about a wedding and children, alongside their music careers and life in Miami. Yailin had moved from the Dominican Republic. These were hopes and plans they described in March 2022, not a statement of what they intended later.
