Dragon Ball DAIMA is a Toei Animation anime series whose 20-episode run aired from October 2024 to February 2025. Akira Toriyama is credited with the original work and story and character design; the official DAIMA website lists Crunchyroll and Netflix as streaming services, though availability depends on location.
What is Dragon Ball DAIMA about?
Dragon Ball DAIMA is a new anime series in the Dragon Ball franchise, produced by Toei Animation. Toei’s catalog lists it as a 2024 production. Its announcement described it as “a new anime series with completely new episodes written by the author of the original series, Akira Toriyama.”
The premise centers on a change that affects Goku and his companions, sending them into a new adventure. That setup places the show within the existing franchise while giving it a distinct story. This overview keeps the details light to avoid spoiling the series.
What was Akira Toriyama’s role?
Toriyama’s involvement is grounded in official writing and character credits, not just his association with the wider franchise. Toei’s announcement said he wrote the new episodes; the series’ official credits attribute original work, story, and character design to him. Those credits should not be expanded into claims that he directed or animated the series.
