The confirmed Invincible: Battle Beast spinoff is a comic book series, not a separately announced television show. Titled Invincible Universe: Battle Beast, it is written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Ryan Ottley, and fills in part of Battle Beast’s story between his appearances in Invincible #19 and #55.
Is the Battle Beast spinoff a show or a comic?
It is an ongoing comic series published by Image Comics and Skybound. The official announcements reviewed confirm later seasons of the main Invincible animated series, but do not announce a separate Battle Beast screen spinoff. That means a Battle Beast show is not confirmed in those announcements; it does not rule out a future adaptation.
The comic’s official title is Invincible Universe: Battle Beast. It is a standalone story within the larger Invincible universe, rather than a television tie-in.
Who makes the comic, and what is its story?
Robert Kirkman writes the series, and Ryan Ottley illustrates it. Both are longtime Invincible collaborators and co-creators of Battle Beast. The series explores a gap between the character’s appearances in Invincible #19 and #55, rather than retelling those issues.

Skybound’s premise describes Battle Beast as cursed with an unquenchable thirst for violence. He travels the universe looking for a warrior strong enough to kill him before he harms anyone he loves. The publisher announced the series as an ongoing comic.
When did it begin, and what is its publication status?
Image Comics and Skybound announced the first issue for April 16, 2025. Their December 9, 2025 update announced issue #7 for March 18, 2026, opening a new arc involving the Viltrum Empire. The update also identified a collected edition of the first six issues.

How can readers start reading?
Invincible Universe: Battle Beast Vol. 1: Heart of Glory collects issues #1–6, making it a convenient way to read the opening run together. The publisher lists ISBN 978-1-5343-3327-7 and a suggested retail price of $16.99. That is the publisher’s suggested price, not a guarantee of current price or availability; stock and pricing may vary by retailer and region.
Readers who prefer individual installments can follow the single issues instead. The collection and the individual issues are formats for the same opening story, not different versions established by the publisher. The publisher named Amazon Kindle among the digital platforms for issue #7.

How does the comic relate to the animated series?
The comic expands Battle Beast’s place in the franchise, but its publication does not amount to an announcement of a screen adaptation. Skybound’s June 25, 2026 update says the main animated series was renewed for season six ahead of season five’s 2027 debut. About Amazon’s page, updated July 1, 2026, also confirms seasons five and six. Neither update announces a separate Battle Beast show.
For readers following the franchise, the useful distinction is simple: Invincible Universe: Battle Beast is confirmed comic material, while the official screen updates cited here concern the main animated Invincible series.
