Travis Kelce’s public account of his relationship with Taylor Swift runs from a failed attempt to pass her a phone-number friendship bracelet in 2023 to his giddy comments about their engagement in 2025. The clearest account came when Swift joined Kelce on New Heights in August 2025. The couple’s marriage in July 2026 is a later milestone reported by ABC News, not a disclosure Kelce made in those earlier interviews.
How did Travis Kelce say he first tried to meet Taylor Swift?
Kelce’s first widely discussed attempt began at Swift’s Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in summer 2023. He later said he had made a friendship bracelet bearing his phone number and hoped to give it to her. It never reached Swift, and the two did not meet at the concert.
On a September 2023 episode of New Heights, Kelce described being “butthurt” that he had not met her and acknowledged that he had made the disappointment public. When Swift appeared on the podcast in August 2025, she filled in her side of the story: Kelce had not contacted her management to arrange a meeting. She said the direct, public gesture appealed to her. Their accounts make the bracelet an opening gesture, not a chance encounter.
CBS News’ coverage of their August 2025 conversation and ABC News’ relationship timeline recount the story.

When did Kelce first acknowledge Swift publicly?
Her first Chiefs game
Swift attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game on September 24, 2023. Kelce thanked her on New Heights, saying, “Shout out to Taylor for pulling up.” He added that his friends and family had only good things to say about her. ABC News reports that he had invited her after talking about her on The Pat McAfee Show.
Confirming they were dating
In a November 2023 interview with WSJ. Magazine, Kelce confirmed that they were dating and spoke about the scrutiny that came with Swift’s fame. ABC News reproduces his comments about not behaving strangely simply because of the attention. His remarks addressed public pressure; they do not establish details about events or conversations the couple kept private.
What did Kelce say about their relationship and mutual support?
In a December 2023 TIME interview, Swift described their support as reciprocal: she went to his games and he attended her shows. As ABC News quotes her, “We’re just proud of each other.” Kelce’s public appearances and comments reflected that same two-way support, rather than presenting the relationship as one person simply following the other’s career.

In an August 2025 GQ interview, he said he enjoyed being the “plus one” at her shows and described himself as a fan of music and art. ABC News summarizes both sets of remarks.
What did Kelce reveal on New Heights in August 2025?
Swift’s August 13, 2025 appearance was her first podcast appearance. CBS News described it as the couple’s first comprehensive media appearance. They revisited the bracelet story, talked about how they got together and shared their impressions of one another.

Kelce said he had been curious about Swift after seeing her perform. He described their first in-person conversation as the easiest conversation he had ever had. He also offered a direct description of the relationship’s effect on him: “I’m serious, she makes me so much better.” ELLE’s recap of the episode quotes the line.
Swift, rather than Kelce, supplied several of the episode’s most memorable observations about him. She joked, “This podcast did a lot for me. It gave me a boyfriend!” ABC News also quoted her calling him “a vibe booster in everyone’s life that he’s in” and “a human exclamation point.” She spoke about his personality and her growing interest in football; those are her account, not Kelce’s revelations.

ABC News’ timeline, updated July 4, 2026, reports that Swift and Kelce married on July 3, 2026, in New York City. The August 2025 podcast drew substantial attention of its own. The Associated Press reported on August 14 that the episode had been seen more than 11.7 million times on YouTube by Thursday afternoon after release, while its clips had received more than 400 million views across platforms. Those figures describe the episode’s reach at that time, not the relationship.
